SamCam's jacket - I want it!

Does anyone know where this jacket is from? Hopefully she is establishing her "one of us" credentials and it will be from New Look, not a designer label :)

Looks a bit like the Top Shop utility 'shacket' to me - out of stock but review and pic here: reviews.topshop.com/6025-en_eu/11D02GKHA/topshop-eu-heavy-cotton-shacket-reviews/reviews.htm

Similar one at Warehouse: www.warehouse.co.uk/heavy-casual-utility-jacket/jackets-&-coats/warehouse/fcp-product/02294428

This is another shot of the jacket which I admired earlier today.

It looks quite silky/viscosey in this shot?
In any case, I quite like the whole outfit for this time of year.

TheRealMaryMillington · 07/04/2015 22:54

You really like that?

As ever, the clothes are wearing her. She has great taste in terms of the clothes she picks but I think she looks terrible in them 90% of the time.

MyOtherDogIsAPorsche · 07/04/2015 23:00

Mary - yes, I do! I'm a bit confused by what you say about the clothes wearing her, can you explain more?

It's
Awful

TheRealMaryMillington · 07/04/2015 23:05

I love the colour of the jacket but she is very slim and it sort of just hangs there on her. I hate how she's styled it too - kind of mumsy.

She has some beautiful, fashion forward clothes (as obviously has the budget), but she never looks that great in them, they never really seem to suit her shape or colouring, or go with her haircut. I find it a bit odd because obviously she's a very attractive person, with great taste (and budget to match!).

MyOtherDogIsAPorsche · 08/04/2015 07:39

Oly4 - does that mean you don't know where it's from?

Look at the nanny standing next to Sam - she is obviously younger and prettier but see how her simple outfit is styled? A wider neckline, a gray tee instead of a prim high neckline white, and simple boots instead of slightly dated looking ballet flats. And skintight black jeans instead of cigarette pants. And she chose a muted green instead of a bright color. The bright and black combo can backfire really easily.

I think SC tends to wear stuff that is a bit too prim and formal; in this case she combines an oversized slightly rumpled jacket with very prim clothes and the result is a mishmash. I think her point is to show that she looks like any mum out there, but she is dressing like an office worker.

AnyFucker · 08/04/2015 07:43

That is horrid

frankietwospots · 08/04/2015 08:58

I'm not going to say whether I think it's nice or horrid - I just came on the thread to try to help the OP find the jacket!

cressetmama · 08/04/2015 09:42

Lands End Canvas did a very similar jacket to the one SC is wearing last year, made from some heritage British fabric; can't remember the name but expensive. Sadly Lands End Canvas doesn't seem to exist anymore.

See I think the nanny looks dull dull dull. I'm not SamCam's biggest fan, but she does make some effort which I admire - so many politicians wives just sit in safe Tory wife territory.

Preminstreltension · 08/04/2015 09:59

That's the mum not the nanny

Dave would never do a photoshoot with a man and child and nanny. Got to be a hardworking family, striving to get on the housing ladder, you know.

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 08/04/2015 09:59

frugal -"the nanny" ? The woman in the photo is the mother of the children, the scamerons are there for a photo op, she isn't the nanny!Grin

Hopefully · 08/04/2015 10:01

You mean the Cameron's actually talk to REAL PEOPLE? And they didn't die of common-itis? Wonders will never cease.

Preminstreltension · 08/04/2015 10:05

No I think they do photo ops with real people. I don't think they actually spend much time with first time buyers who don't have nannies.

Bakeoffcake · 08/04/2015 10:06

I'm not sure where it's from, but I think she looks great. What's she supposed to where for zipping round the country, talking to people Confused

I don't think she cares that much about clothes, and I actually like her for that.

Greengardenpixie · 08/04/2015 10:12

She is majorly frumpy. Why anyone would want to style themselves around her is beyond me! The jacket in itself is nice enough and a lovely colour but she just makes it look terrible.

noddyholder · 08/04/2015 10:34

It looks like a frumpy bhs style anorak

FrugalFashionista · 08/04/2015 10:46

Sorry about not following UK politics at all. The girl in the puffa parka looks like the archetypical au pair to me - the type the DH really enjoys hanging out with Wink

I don't know, SamCam looks like she is being forced to wear brights by some PR person or image consultant. She looks like she would be much happier in a gray marl sweatshirt and natural or no makeup, super simple shapes and no frills.
