Has anyone had a mini tummy tuck?

I'm thinking of doing this but I'm not sure how suitable I am for the operation as it is a very tiny area of slightly saggy skin from pregnancy.

I am tying to find reputable surgeons, costs etc. Can anyone advise me?

Yes, me. Where are you based?

Handbag55 · 07/04/2015 15:58

I'm also interested in a mini tummy tuck. I'm based in London. Please tell me more yesAnastasia

Interested too, I am in the midlands

I've just been looking into this this week! Would love to know more

From my initial investigations, you cannot get one done for less than £5000. I'm not too keen to go abroad.

Don't have anywhere near that kind of money but marking my place on this thread in case I get an unexpected windfall....

Well I actually had a full tummy tuck including muscle repair. It cost £7k. I'm in Manchester.

Hope you're ready - it's a little TMI.

After that, because it was a massive op, I needed a mini tummy tuck afterwards for cosmetic reasons. That was free of charge because it was within a year. I still wasn't happy so I had a third op which was also free of charge.

With mine, they cut low (where my c section scar was) and pulled the skin down very tightly. Then they cut the excess off, including my belly button then attached it again just above my pubic area. Another nice side effect of getting a new vertical belly button Smile was that before my pubic hair didn't really stop until it reached my belly button & I'd had to wax/shave my tummy since my teens. This was all cut off too so the skin on my tummy is smooth, hair free and lovely from very low down.

Another thing is that the I didn't expect but was very happy with was that they can also lift from the bottom of the incision slightly & make a tighter mons pubis area once they reattach.

The belly button itself is sewn all the way around & can look a bit weird for a while. I know some who popped in a marble to help it look more natural but I found it got there ok in the end.

I had additional lipo under the bust & on the hips to even everything out.

The scar is massive, hip to hip and it went through a few icky times before it was completely healed (but mostly due to the fact that DH was cleaning it with dettol undiluted Hmm...). You can't sleep on front or side for a long long time. It was amazing to be able to do that after 2 close pregnancies, c sections & all these tummy ops!!

Recovery was pretty awful after the muscle repair, very painful & I had to have drains at first. The nurse comes & clears them regularly & you're so numb that they hardly even bother you (until they snag when they're being removed, bleugh!) The mini one however, was really quick. The lipo bruised terribly, quite scary really & that was painful like the massive bruise it was but a week in bed a enough. After that I just took it easy with lifting the children etc.

Can't think of anything else. Ask away.

YesAnastasia · 07/04/2015 17:16

Sorry for the mistakes, I hope it's legible; the children are around & I did it quickly.

Thank you YesAnastasia for sharing so much info. I've had a breast aug so I've been under the knife before and it not too scared. How different did you look before and after? In my case I have a little, saggy area just underneath my belly button. Nobody seems to notice it except me but I'm rather vain and it stops me wearing a bikini.

Lottie who did your breast aug? Am wanting this done too! So far liking the sound of Stephen mcculley but haven't seen him yet

lottieandmias · 08/04/2015 01:20

Guy Sterne - very very good. I can't fault him.

Where did you get the tummy tuck done YesAnastasia? I'm near Manchester and currently looking into this.

Fabulassie · 08/04/2015 10:35

I've considered one of these, too! I don't need muscle repair. Just a tiny bit of lipo and skin tightening.

The scar isn't very pretty at all, but I've seen some great tattoos to cover them, like little vines and flowers - I've never wanted a tattoo but I would get one for the scar because then it looks rather nice.

I'm not only worried about the cost of the surgery, but the time I'd have to take off work to recover. That's probably the number-one thing holding me back.

lottieandmias · 12/04/2015 14:02

Bump, can anyone recommend surgeons in the West Midlands area?

lollylegs · 15/05/2015 01:08

I am interested too but based in Sydney, Australia! I want to know what happens if you put weight on again further on down the track? And has anyone heard of a lipectomy? This is what my surgeon has suggested but I've not heard of it.
