Anyone used Glasses Direct?

Did your optician help with sizing? Bit concerned that will get them and then they won't fit. Then I'll hv to go to an optician and they will not help with fitting/ adjusting. Also was the quality good? I need the thinned out lenses.

Ive not had any from there personally but someone at my work used them and her glasses looked great. You seemingly get a variety to choose from and try on before you buy. She had no issues and a great experience.

I've used them before, you can have them send you frames to try on. Always found the glasses to be very good quality although I've got single vision glasses for short sightedness, just bad enough to need glasses.

I got them - went to optician and got prescription and also the pupil distance and ordered the glasses online. All went well and very good prices !

I haven't used them but I did use eyewear brands who were really good. I just took them to a local optician for fitting when they arrived as they weren't fitting comfortably.

queenbrunhilda · 11/04/2015 22:40

I've used them this year - it's a very good service. No problems with fit.

LostInMusic · 12/04/2015 07:03

I used them last year and was really impressed. I sent in a pair of my old glasses with my prescription (so they could take pupil distances from them etc..) and the glasses are fab.
Any opticians will adjust the fit for a smallish charge - it's meant to be £10 at my local opticians, but they very kindly did it for free!

Runningupthathill82 · 12/04/2015 07:07

I usedc them and was really disappointed - cheap frames that didn't fit me at all. DH, on the other hand, is really happy with the service he had from them.
So its a mixed bag, from my experience.

Skinheadmermaid · 12/04/2015 12:57

My glasses are from there and they're great. I asked my optician to write out my prescription which they did no questions asked. I still get my contacts from them but all their nice glasses are just too expensive!

CMOTDibbler · 12/04/2015 13:04

No, but I got my new glasses from Asda opticians which I was nervous about but they were the only place doing cycling suitable sunglasses at a reasonable price, and I am totally delighted with the sunglasses and my first pair of varifocals - £99 for both pairs, inc high index and the varifocal

NormHonal · 12/04/2015 13:12

I bought from one of the online companies, but found the frames I wanted, ordered them, then took them to the optician to get the lenses fitted.

It worked out more expensive than doing it all online, but I knew I would need the frames bending to fit me, and was happy with the end result. I think I saved around £50-100 and got the frames I wanted, not just what the optician had in stock.

I'm going to do it again with some "designer" sunglasses because I can't find any local opticians stocking the frames I want.

I used them for quite a while until my prescription got too odd!
Always had fantastic service, no problems with fitting.

Tesco opticians are also really reasonably priced, and you can order online

Willow33 · 12/04/2015 22:48

Ok am more confident now to give them a go! Thanks
