So excuse the neurotic ignorance...after many years hankering I finally took the plunge and book a leather biker style jacket (whistles Jett if anyone cares!)
Anyway I love it however it's not been worn much yet as am worried about wearing it out in the rain or when I am with the DC for fear of staining it.
Oh I need to explain - it is grey not black.
Obviously I want it eventually have that soft worn to death look but am I right to worry about it getting wet - do I use a protector on it or just get on with it?! Confused

I think you just need to bite the bullet and wear it! Yes an initial protective spray is a good idea but then you've just got to start throwing it on!

I'm a bit like this with expensive bags but I force myself to use them and enjoy them

I agree with Boomf. I think they look better when they are all soft and have been battered around a bit. I've been 'saving' my lovely Mint Velvet grey one and wearing my old Oasis one instead, but this week I've bitten the bullet and let my grey one get rained on, as well as chucking it around a bit. It's already looking and feeling more as if it 'belongs' to me, and less like something to just be hung up and admired.

Oh good! Thanks for the encouragement both I think that's what I needed.
Does that mean I could consider wearing it to travel on holiday in? I keep telling myself that's a ridiculous idea but maybe not.. Hmm

Where to? If somewhere hot, no! Grin

Portugal so hopefully warm but not scorching.

Agree wear it whenever you want and don't worry about it - it's a jacket and designed to meet the elements. It will look better when it's worn in a bit, I always think brand new leather jackets look a bit prim until they have softened up
