I'm going to a wedding next week. I'll be wearing this dress and a cream faux fur stole hoping I won't freeze to death. I have a turquoise over size clutch that matches well.

My hair is a very short grey pixie, so I'm planning sleek and smooth, like the middle Anne Hathaway pic.

What I'm not sure about is:
shoes: I have nude round toe heels or navy sequins with peep toe (very muted sequins, they shimmer more than sparkle).
make up: thinking simple enough eyes (cream/pale gold, grey eyeliner and mascara) and a darkish pinky/red lipstick.
jewellery: I'm really unsure about earrings with the short hair. Any suggestions? I have very nice simple white gold and diamond studs, very plain pearl studs, or grey teardrop pearls that hang about half a cm below my ear lobe something like these. I think a necklace might be too much?

I don't know anyone other than DH going to the wedding and I'm still a bit freaked out by my new hair cut, so any help making me look good would be great!

The dress is very busy. For a wedding, I'd either try and match it to the dress, but only if it goes perfectly (take the dress with you when you go shopping)

Or I'd match it to your stole and go cream. Maybe silver if that's in your jewellery handbag www.dorothyperkins.com/en/dpuk/product/shoes-203538/view-all-shoes-boots-2055245/silver-embellished-sandals-4191028?refinements=Colour%7b1%7d~%5bcream%7csilver%5d&bi=1&ps=20

I don't think that the navy would go at all. It's just a bit of a random colour choice.

Think you're right about the shoes - there are tiny navy flecks in the dress but the muted, nude ones are probably better.

Not helpful but in photographs people always look spectacularly well put together if they've included their own hair colouring in their outfit choice.

As you have a turquoise dress and bag I wonder if (matt) silver wouldn't be better for the outer layer and your shoes - to properly show off your new haircut.

I've never noticed that, Zero, sounds interesting. And I do have a pair of fantastic ridiculous silver Jimmy Choos that haven't seen the light of day in many years. I'll drag them out of hibernation for a looksee.

The shoes sound perfect Star - see if you can find a silver fox stole or suitably tiny silver jacket to try on as well.

I'd be fascinated to hear how it works.

Just wanted to say I love the dress! Hope you have a great time.

KanyesVest · 03/04/2015 21:57

Thanks Ponks, I love it too, it's completely different to anything I've worn before, hence the lack of a clue about what to wear with it!
