Have never worn it before and haven't the first clue how to apply it properly.

Have you bought one? What sort is it? Application will depend on if it's liquid with a brush/a pencil/kohl pencil. Also, do you know what sort of look you'd like to achieve?

monkeysaymoo · 31/03/2015 16:00

It's a kohl pencil. I want it to be fairly subtle just something to make my eyes look less dull i guess!

Look at Lisa Eldridge or Tanya Burr on YouTube for different looks.

monkeysaymoo · 31/03/2015 16:06

thanks will take a look!

Tutorials are a good idea, I'd also recommend buying a smudger if using kohl to keep it smoky and subtle. The names mentioned above probably recommend some tools!

Google "tight lining", it's a really subtle method of applying it but really makes a difference and defines your eyes

This was on buzzfeed yesterday

Yes tightlining! It makes an amazing difference

monkeysaymoo · 31/03/2015 18:46

Ooh thanks for the tips!

I started tightlining a few months ago, even my husband noticed!

violetbunny · 31/03/2015 19:10

Buy a pencil brush. This changed how I apply pencil liners as you can use the brush to smudge the line (so it's much easier to disguise any imprecision). A softly blended line also looks more natural. MAC make a great pencil brush which I've been using for years.

Excited to learn about tightlining. What eye products are good for it?

daftyburd · 31/03/2015 20:49

Blueshoes I use Laura Mercier cake eyeliner with a sigma waterline brush to tightline. Any eyeliner brush should be ok but Laura Mercier is the best eyeliner I've used.

TheCowThatLaughs · 31/03/2015 20:57

I just use an eyeliner pencil to tightline,,not sure what make it is though

IfYoureHappyAndYouKnowIt · 31/03/2015 21:03

I recommend the LM product also.

bluesbaby · 31/03/2015 21:49

warm it up before each use, with your hand, or with a lighter (and let it cool slightly obviously!). Kohl goes on smoothly and more dense (so darker/ more pigmented) when it's warmer.

Lovewearingjeans · 31/03/2015 22:24

Pinterest has different pins about variations of liner application

blueshoes · 31/03/2015 22:27

Thanks, dafty and IfYoure. I will check out the Laura Mercier product.

Lunaballoon · 31/03/2015 22:35

Another fan of LM tightliner here. I was never able to get the hang of eyeliner before but this really works. You press it into the lashline with an angled brush. Rimmel Exaggerate is also good. Much more forgiving than a liquid liner.

IfYoureHappyAndYouKnowIt · 31/03/2015 22:53

Whilst it obviously depends upon your colouring I really like the blue marine and grey by the way.

daftyburd · 01/04/2015 08:45

I really like the plum shade for my colouring.

Chicinwellies · 01/04/2015 11:14

Dior is amazing. 4 years on its still my favourite.

aquavit · 01/04/2015 15:42

I also discovered tightlining recently, having spent years perfecting improving my above-the-lashes liner technique. It's really easy and it makes a huge but very subtle difference.
