So what's the best brow make up out there?

I have quite fair, sparse, slightly gappy eyebrows that definitely need extra help.
I'm using a Lancôme brow pencil, but am not that good at applying it and have heard pencils are not the best option anyway.. What is?

I use Benefit Brow Zings but will be trying the Sleek one once it's run out.

I use Avon Glimmerstick brow pencil. Bargain at £6 (often half price too).

I use the Grey Bobbi Brown matte eyeshadow. It is perfect on all hair colours and is ashy rather than red.

I use it for wedding makeup and is very long-lasting.

Wow, lots of ideas to work with, thanks everyone.

I have tried matte eyeshadow, but it always looks odd when I do it. Maybe a lighter shade is needed. And a more skilled hand Blush
It took me years and years to get goodish at eyeliner.

I might have access to a Sephora next week so can hopefully try out lots of these there. And maybe get a lesson on applying the stuff!

I'm very fair and have sparse eyebrows due to over plucking and have tried loads of products. Best one yet is YBF brow pencil, closely followed by Avon glimmerstick in blonde.

DarkHeart · 31/03/2015 21:02

I am also very fair and have sparse eyebrows and use Mac pencil in flirt which is v good

Allie82 · 04/04/2015 11:59

The Anastasia brow wiz is worth every penny.

FrugalFashionista · 04/04/2015 12:02

I'm very pale and use an old Revlon eye shadow in a very pale taupe. It's about two or three shades lighter than you'd think you'd need but perfect for brows and stays all day. Much subtler than a pencil. A lot of brow products meant for blondes have some red tinge to them, a total no-no for me.

FrugalFashionista · 04/04/2015 12:10

Snapped a pic, the paler tone is the correct one.

i have a really nice smashbox pencil type thing. def don't go to town of they'll look silly. so many people with daft overdone brows these days.

I use the Mac pencil. It's the twist up crayon type one. It's great.

mewkins · 04/04/2015 12:48

I second the rimmel one. I use dark brown and it's perfect, not a hint of ginger in it and applies in about ten secs. I often get compliments on my eyebrows (left to their own devices they are light and sparse.)
I tried it after a beauty editor recommended it in her best budget buy column.

MamainMilan · 06/04/2015 21:55

I'm a bit of a brow-obsessive and have tried lots of the products mentioned here. I have previously bought high-end, but also tried the MUA palette on the advice of a friend, and it is pretty brilliant.

I know you're not looking for a budget option, but I would recommend it purely on it's performance. Really long lasting, doesn't smudge, looks very natural.

pinkrocker · 06/04/2015 22:01

I have a weird question! When I get mine dyed they always look grey/ashy colour. My beautician friend who does them says that's the only colour she can get, but there are others available, aren't they?
Daily I use the bodyshop blonde colour eyebrow palatte.
(Just wish it would stay on longer.)

esiotrot2015 · 06/04/2015 22:12

Ok I've got wild bushy eyebrows that I attempt to tame with tweezers
Every year Shock I get them waxed
What should I be doing ? What do you do with eye shadow & pencils & gel ?
I'm beyond baffled Grin

workadurka · 06/04/2015 22:29

Laura Mercier pot of wax stuff. Really easy to apply with a stiff brush and can be subtle or built up.

MAC twist up pencil is OK but even the blondest one needs a gentle hand (I'm very fair).

Body shop too ginger for me. Ditto most pencils I've tried, even high end.

Eye shadows look a bit "muddy" IME.

Getting them tinted doesn't work as I have so few actual eyebrow hairs...

workadurka · 06/04/2015 22:32

Just googled the Anastasia pomade and it looks v similar to the Laura Mercier brow definer stuff I mentioned above. It gets brilliant reviews.

buttercupbear · 06/04/2015 22:35

Another vote for anastasia brow pomade here. I use soft brown which can be lighter or darker depending on pressure used. It has transformed my brows and face.

Fabulassie · 07/04/2015 21:42

Soap and Glory do an excellent kit.
