Want this bag, but

is anyone familiar with the store? I think it is based in Paris.

Can't find this bag in same colour anywhere else. There's a nice grey one at Harrods, but I really want black!

Also, this guy.... are his bags as durable, say...as a Chloe Marcie?

I don't know how durable his bags are but the MBMJ line is being closed down so it might be a good time to get one.

petitchoupette · 30/03/2015 09:23

to be honest the logo is beginning to annoy me.
I wonder why they're closing it down? I've not heard about this one!

I've just read about it, I'm really surprised, for a while now MBMJ has been doing really well, and surpassing its main line,in design and sales number, maybe they are trying to restructure the Marc Jacob brand, just like dolce and gabbana did,

petit if you can afford the marci, then get it instead,

polyhymnia · 30/03/2015 11:37

Agree about the logo. Really spoils and detracts from it IMO. But I am very logo averse.

BallroomWithNoBalls · 30/03/2015 12:52

I have a Percy, not the double version - it has been very durable, lovely thick smooshy leather and well made. Great everyday basic bag. I didn't know MBMJ was being closed down, gutted! I love the line despite its logoeyness, the quality is really excellent. I had also read that it did better than the main line but that the new creatives want to make the bags more directional and linked to the catwalk clothes of MJ, rather than the sort of classic street style it currently does so well.

petitchoupette · 30/03/2015 21:27

Thanks!

I already have the Marcie, but want a small-ish everyday bag in black to alternate with it (my Marcie is tiny and tan, i call it my summer bag!).

I like the MJ bag but can't find it anywhere in black, sadly.

Am actually thinking of going with this, now, from APC:

Do you love your Marcie?
I got one last summer and I'm so glad I did. The quality is amazing.

santamarianovella · 30/03/2015 21:42

I prefer the APC one, less childish I think, but have no idea about quality,
Or get a chloe drew Wink, chloe bags are very well made and durable,

petitchoupette · 30/03/2015 22:10

I love my Marcie, it's a tad tiny, but that's what I chose and it works so well for what I intended. The quality is superb, so far - had it 2 yrs. For some reason I don't get along with most Chloe designs, so I think it will stay with the Marcie.

I also own a burgundy Jaeger tote (old and wonderful) and a Mulberry Lily. So more small bags than large, although I tend not to do large so often - if i need a big bag i use the free ones that come with things.....like a nice Margaret Howell fabric bag that came with a scarf I once bought.

The APC is just the right size for my day to day stuff, so waiting for it to come in stock. I guess I'd prefer the Celine Trio but not currently flush enough to splurge.

As for APC quality, their clothing has served me well, but I do not get along with their footwear. A pair of sandals I have almost fell apart in one summer:(

I noticed that Radley seem to get a bad rep on here.
Saw their website yesterday and quite liked the look of many of their basic leather bags, looked quite well made.

How come they're not a fave around these parts?

santamarianovella · 30/03/2015 22:44

Thats a shame about the APC shoes, their clothes are very well made, lots of brands when they branch into leather good they face a lot of struggles , its tough work and very costly, you have to start low while keeping quality in mind and then hike up prices when they become a success,

I have no experience with radley, too classic for me. But I don't think it gets a bad reputation here,

QueenCardigan · 31/03/2015 07:46

I really like Radley bags. I've had a few over the years and they've all been very well made. I think a lot of people don't like them as the pocket bag became so popular and the dogs and patterns can often be a bit twee. Also f you sign up to their email there are often money off vouchers.

HelpMeGetOutOfHere · 31/03/2015 07:52

I have a lot of bags including a Marcie medium in tan and have radley bags as well. I think they get a pasting as are mainly associated with the twe picture ones and logo. Some of the bags are lovely. The leather is always good. Some are a bit heavy but then I find the Marcie heavy.

A shame about mbmj I love the two bags I have.

petitchoupette · 31/03/2015 12:41

I do like the style of many of the Radley bags, especially the dark navy colour....

Also like this saddle bag from Toast:

www.toa.st/product/womens+bags+and+belts/FBDAA/Suzu+Saddle+Bag.htm?categoryref=%2fcategory.aspx%3fcategoryid%3dwomens%2520bags%2520and%2520belts%26seoterm%3dbags%2520and%2520belts%26&pcat=womens+bags+and+belts&adimage=&clr=FBDAA_black

Reminds me of an old Margaret Howell one I'd longed for yrs ago, but much cheaper, and probably just as well made.

Now I need to decide which one, still loving the APC.
