Are you saying I look like shite, hub?

hub2dee · 31/10/2006 13:23

LOL pph.

Have you noticed that aside from some happy metrosexuals and a few blokes, the enormous majority do bugger all to their faces aside from water and some shaving foam ?

They don't all have crap skin or look minging ?

hub2dee · 31/10/2006 13:24

The machine is a distraction (although, yes, I'm looking to upgrade), but to take a good photo you need a good eye and some nice light.

I am sure you are all sirens.

Piffle · 31/10/2006 13:24

I bought the Philosophy set when in the US (doorstepped by a woman weilding a brush in Bergdorfs)- very keen on the rinse off cleanser it has lasted months and is not even 1/3 down.
Hope in a Jar excellent moisturiser but you need a lot and getting it in the Uk is a pain the dimply ass.
I find Olay do excellent moisturisers or if in doubt use clinques - it is very good but I'm fickle and I get bored with things beign the same.

hub2dee · 31/10/2006 13:27

Piff, I'll get water from the holy land, add a couple of drops of colouring and it will be VERY special. I promise. It will make your shimmer and feel even more radiant. It won't be the same as anyone else's.

PrincessPeaHead · 31/10/2006 13:28

cupcakes I'm only 37, it is just a good moisturiser. honest.

hub, you shave every morning, ergo you cleanse and exfoliate in a BIG WAY (shaving off the top layer of skin does that you know), so don't give me any crap about how naturally radiant you are.

and I bet you drink 2 litres of water a day and get 8 unbroken hours sleep, you big girls blouse

JackieNoHeadJustABloodyStump · 31/10/2006 13:29

You tell him, PPH.

BudaBeast · 31/10/2006 13:30

hub - it's a girl thing. We enjoy it. We don;t always belive the claims but enjoy it all anyway. Go ans take some more pics of your beautiful DD (she will buy it all when older too!!)

fairyjay · 31/10/2006 13:30

I like Clarins stuff.

JackieNoHeadJustABloodyStump · 31/10/2006 13:31

It's the pentapeptides - they've addled our brains.

NomDePlume · 31/10/2006 13:34

rofl @ Jackie.

Is the REN peppermint stuff good for, ummmmmmmm, 'problem' skin in manner of 14 year old boy ?

hub2dee · 31/10/2006 13:41

I don't shave every morning. I shave when I look scary. I never drink either - I'm a bit of a camel, but I'm trying to drink much more. And dd is generally a good sleeper but she does enjoy interrupting our reveries most nights.

I am a scientific experiment (for my 'skin type') that doing bugger all to your face does not really do it much harm. (Actually I imagine your 'skin age' as opposed to your chronological age is in large part genetically inherited).

I don't smoke, and I'm a veggie (if that makes any difference).

ndp - maybe a (medical) dermatologist / endocrinologist would be in the best position to prescribe an ointment that would actually work ?

LOL @dd when she's 14 bb...

I guess really the key is not how much it costs, but how much you like it. But it is tempting to keep trying new ones in the hope that the next one will be The One.

hub2dee · 31/10/2006 14:03

He's right, sobernow. It's a game of fiscal extraction.

stringbean · 31/10/2006 20:58

If expensive skin care products work, why are face lifts and Botox becoming increasingly popular??????

brimfull · 31/10/2006 21:11

liz earle stuff for me,it's all natural which works for my over sensitive precious skin

Twohootsandapumpkin · 31/10/2006 21:17

I have v sensitive skin and have tried loads of stuff. Olay really doesn't agree with me at all - brings me out in very itchy patches . Used to use Clinique but not so keen on it now.

Have progressed onto Elemis and love their products. Their moisturiser (collagen marine cream) is great, anti-aging and really 'polishes' your skin! Fantastic - love the whole Elemis range but it can be a bit expensive!

addictedtoshopping · 31/10/2006 21:38

am using Estee Lauder advanced night repair concentrate thing(brown bottle).am on day 18 out of 21 - hate to say it (am sceptical about these things) but i can honestly see a differnece in my skin (in a good way). had read so many good reviews about it - glad i tried it

tigi · 31/10/2006 22:14

I like the Nivea Q10 moisturiser. I think my 'fine lines' (as they say!) look better. My skin feels nice too. This was a winner in the Sunday Mirror test awards a while ago, and that dr hanaushka was as well (could never find it in Boots to try though, so can't comment!)

themoon666 · 31/10/2006 22:20

Elemis is lovely stuff. I had a day at a health spa where they used it in my treatments. I went to the shop but found it was way too expensive.

Ilovemyboy · 31/10/2006 22:24

Eve Lom cleanser is good.

I love Chantecaille and Laura Mercier products too.

My skin is quite sensitive but am prone to an oily t-zone.

Ilovemyboy · 31/10/2006 22:26

Just to add, it is all over-priced but I can't help it.

Should have shares in Space NK.

EnormousChangesAtTheLastMinute · 31/10/2006 22:30

i have used everything from eve lom to dr h to prescriptives flight cream (fab) to nuxe (my fave spendy creams, smell gorgeous but no spf), clinique, decleor, jurlique, aesop, etc etc... and tbh i like the 'simple' range just as much. doesn't smell of anything but does the job and is cheap cheap cheap. now on mat leave and £ tight would rather spend less on creams (it's all marketing buget anyway) and have the occasional facial to even the pamper factor out...
