Long glittery dress at a wedding - is this wrong?

Going to a wedding next month - suspect will be a bit posher than average, early evening ceremony and dancing til early hours. Dress code is "long dress or cocktail dress"

I have my eye on this:

I think it'll be fine. It's simple enough to not look OTT during the ceremony but elegant for the evening.

I was coming on (having read title) to say 'wrong' as to me, that's an evening dress, but they've asked you to wear an evening dress, so that looks lovely, according to their dress code, IMO

Oh good that is reassuring! Yes if I just think about it as evening dress, then it makes me feel better. I have the dress already, I like it a lot but just wasn't sure whether it was suitable. The sequins are iridescent so it has a rainbow shimmer rather than silvery (as it appears online) if that changes anything.

Yes I am long and lanky willowy, and floor-length is good as I can get away with flats which will please DH no end as he hates being towered over!

Love love love that dress, it will be perfect - and am seriously envious of anyone who can wear something like that. Doesn't really translate to my 5 foot 1, size 12 frame sadly

That is a lovely dress and with flats too, I bet it comes to be a really useful thing in your wardrobe after the wedding.

That is a lovely dress, funky and elegant at the same time somehow, and it you are tall and slim will look wonderful.

I'd love to have the figure and the occasion to justify buying it!
