Right oh wise ones of S &B please help my DD.

She is 5 ft 1.5 inch and petite all over. Brown hair, big blue eyes and pale skin. Hates V necks, thinks she might like a royal blue one and feels a long one will swamp her.

I am now cross eyed from dress websites, any suggestions please ?

Well - not sure any of them will do, and don't know budget but how about:

Sass & Bide french navy

Osman navy - not cheap but...

might be a bit short - turquoise

Only one in royal blue, but is long

pieceofpurplesky · 27/03/2015 21:54

Don't go for short ... Knee length or longer. I have organised school proms for ten years and short dresses stand out not in a good way. eBay is fab - get this shortened

Or go vintage?

TheWoollybacksWife · 27/03/2015 22:00

Someone on another thread recommended this website. I've got DD1 looking for a dress for her graduation ball and DD2 looking for a prom dress so I've directed them both there Grin

pieceofpurplesky · 27/03/2015 22:00

Blue seems to be the colour this year - if my girls are anything to go by!

Orangeanddemons · 27/03/2015 22:04

this. Someone posted about this website on another bread. I'm totally hooked now

SugarPlumTree · 27/03/2015 22:37

Think strapless are out, I do have someone who can alter anything. There is a Quiz one we were looking at but it says above the knee - I was thinking as she is so tiny it might well be knee length. Guess the only way to know is to try.

I love that bottom one that Mmonlight has linked to but it is considerably more than the Quiz or EBay ones. I'm going to trawl EBay .thank you all, anything else anyone finds I'd be very grateful.

One shoulder ones seem to be the style this year ( the girls show me pictures)

Nonotthatagain · 28/03/2015 09:27

My DD has got hers from Lindy Bop but hers is in green they have some lovely vintage dresses if she doesn't want to go long. A tip though is to go down one size so I was told.

TheHouseofMirth · 28/03/2015 22:32

SugarPlumTree what dress size is she?

Yarp · 29/03/2015 07:26

nono

Those Lindy Bop ones are lovely.

Sigh .. teenage girls look lovely whatever they wear. No need to spend loads, IMO

Millionsmom · 29/03/2015 07:37

www.blackbutterflyclothing.com

They have some beautiful dresses that would fit the bill.

SugarPlumTree · 29/03/2015 07:47

She's a 6. 8 really love those Lindy Bop ones but she is worried that her chest isn't big enough. I'll have a good look through the Black Butterfly one in a minute, thanks.

She tried on several Quiz ones yesterday.
[m.houseoffraser.co.uk/Quiz+Blue+Chiffon+Diamante+Embellished+Dress/D547004,default,pd.html this]] is a possibility but she 8s a bit worried there mighr be a few in the same dress.

There was a gorgeous navy lace one that didn't look much on the hanger but really suited her, but she just doesn't feel comfortable in a v neck so that was the end of that.

I don't want to spend loads. A friend spent about £400 in total for her DD1 and for her other DD said she is planning to spend a lot less as felt it just wasn't worth the money. After yesterday's trying on session I've decided the budget is £50.

You're all being a great help, thanks.

Lots of them will be getting Quiz dresses so I would avoid if she wants to be unique

There is a Quiz locally and it's full of girls looking at prom dresses locally

SugarPlumTree · 29/03/2015 08:30

Here's the link and she is a size 6.

I think that is the conclusion she came to 18years. We are making progress I think, similar neckline needed to the one in the link.

OP posts:
Yarp · 29/03/2015 09:13

There's a dress called Elaine, by Louche, on the Joy website. Sorry, can't link. Royal Blue. Plain at the front with the right neckline but with a nice back detail

There's also a pale blue fringed dress, v pretty called Louche Luxe Shanghai

SugarPlumTree · 29/03/2015 09:14

Revisiting the Lindy Bop site I've seen 3 I think might suit her and she would feel comfortable in. She prefers the vintage style dresses and I think more chance of her wearing one again in the future. There are a couple of possibilities on the Black Butterfly site as well.

The Lindy Bop ones are in a size 8 and come up big but I guess someone who knows what they are doing could sort that out.

Really helpful this, thank you all so much.

SugarPlumTree · 29/03/2015 10:04

Right we have 2 on order so fingers crossed one will be ok. Thank you all so much for helping Smile
