Bretons - where to buy??

Where can I buy some breton tops with a thick material? I checked Boden but their reviews say that the material is thin and they are small fitting. Anywhere else I can look??

I bought mine in TK maxx the other day. Arabella and something, I think. £12.99

The French brands (Saint James (mine are via Atterley Road), Amor Lux, Petit Bateau) all do Bretons in a good thick jersey knit, though you'll find these more widely available in the AW than at this time of year. Also Toast (though again their current range might be in a lighter weight, I've not looked recently).

I have a nice Seasalt one that I'd say is medium weight, and there are some in Uniqlo at the moment though again these are really a slightly thicker jersey rather than the more traditional, French-style heavy knit.

Hope that makes sense!

Joules

Seasalt or Toast.

Judydreamsofhorses · 27/03/2015 11:34

I really rate the Seasalt ones, and have a few from Cos too, although they are probably not considered "proper" Breton tops and just stripy t-shirts. I do have a Boden one but it is not a very good fit and has been relegated to "lounge wear".

I have a Gant one which is about seven years old, been washed a zillion times, still looks good.

I think I saw some in Uniqlo this week.

I'm wearing a People Tree breton today and it's great. Somewhere between a thin sweatshirt and a breton. Hangs really well and has a slash type neckline. Let me find a link

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 27/03/2015 11:57

actually, it's not their Breton, it's a sweatshirt, I wasn't keen on what they called their Breton. the stripes on mine are wider and wider spaced. Mine is more fitted than on the model though (pic attached)

I bloody love navy & white striped tops. I've got about 6 in different fits, sleeve lengths and styles.

Bretons - where to buy??

(Ignore the hair, btw!)

leedy · 27/03/2015 12:49

Glad to know I am not alone in my navy and white striped top obsession. I like that People Tree one. Seasalt also have a lovely sweatshirt type thing, think it's called something like Grebe Smock.

(today I am wearing a Chinti & Parker one with a little Liberty print heart on the breast pocket)

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 27/03/2015 12:52

That sounds nice Leedy

NeverHadHaveHas · 27/03/2015 12:54

Joules harbour tops are fab and thick material

HermioneWeasley · 27/03/2015 13:38

I got a surprisingly heavy one from matalan. Size was true to generous, certainly not small
