Bretons - where to buy??

Where can I buy some breton tops with a thick material? I checked Boden but their reviews say that the material is thin and they are small fitting. Anywhere else I can look??

I got some lovely ones from Uniqlo.

Woahbodyforrrrm · 27/03/2015 12:28

I got a nice one from Maison scotch. It's very thick and lovely!

jackandjilly · 27/03/2015 13:45

Joules

yazzy85 · 27/03/2015 15:55

The Maisob Scotch ones are out of my budget sadly.

plentyofshoes how does the sizing come up at Uniqlo? They have some nice colours at the moment

What size are you? Because the Johnnie B boat neck ones are much thicker than the women's ones.

Apatite1 · 27/03/2015 17:47

I bought a lovely thick one from seasalt last year, washes well and looks new.

mewkins · 27/03/2015 18:20

I like the boden ones because they are thinner. I do not like the thick jersey types as they look too bulky. I am a size 10 and they are a lovely fit and lovely colours. I tried joules (too thick and boxy) and seasalt (nice fabric, big on the shoulders so odd fit).

victoryinthekitchen · 27/03/2015 18:25

the size 16+ Johnnie B fits a woman size 10 -12 and the material is nice and thick.

Yangsun · 27/03/2015 19:14

I love my joules one, thick but doesn't look it.

UnicornFart · 27/03/2015 19:18

Another recommendation for Joules.

Love mine - comfortable, keep their shape & good choice of colours

fiorentina · 27/03/2015 20:05

Another vote for Uniqlo, they do come up big though.

ISingSoprano · 27/03/2015 20:07

I have both Joules and Boden and like both for different reasons! The Boden ones are definitely thinner material but are a slimmer fit compared with the slightly boxier Joules version.

yazzy85 · 27/03/2015 20:20

I'm a size 10 so I may order both the womens and Johnnie B ones to see which look better on. Will also have a look at the Joules. Thanks Flowers

I luffs a Breton and have ones from Uniqlo, boden and Joules. Uniqlo is the thickest, washes well but measures quite wide across the body and short in length, it's also more of a boat neck. Boden is a thin and stretchy material that looks lovely on and is true to size with a nice length on the body but mine now has one of those tiny holes on it where it has caught on my jeans because the cotton is thin. Joules is more like a jumper, very thick cotton, washes well and looks smart, nice length-my favourite, but sizes slightly large so you may be in between sizes. Also when I bought this, I tried another top in exactly the same design but different pattern and the fit was completely different which may mean you have to try everything on.

Another winner in my house is the Breton I got years ago from h and m which has been through the wash a million times but still looks brand new and fits perfectly in everyway.

I have a couple from H & M, the organic cotton ones. They seem to shrink a bit, but actually fit better now! Lovely material, thick and soft.

WigfieldRocks · 28/03/2015 16:21

I've just bought a Boden Breton on Mewkins' recommendation and I have to say I really like it. Yes it is quite thin but that will be better for warmer weather and it can be layered in colder weather. I would size up though if you go for a Boden one.

mewkins · 28/03/2015 16:39

Glad you liked it Wigfield! I have three now (the yellow striped one is ace!)

AuntieDee · 28/03/2015 17:01

Ha ha saw this and thought you were talking about the horse breed!

WigfieldRocks · 28/03/2015 17:51

I got the yellow one, I love it Smile

mewkins · 28/03/2015 19:21

It is such a lovely colour! Couldn't find one like it anywhere else.

yazzy85 · 28/03/2015 21:11

Have ordered two from joules and one from boden, fingers crossed that they fit well!!

Just recieved my orders today. Boden one fits beautifully, I went up a size as advised. I wish they did a 3/4 sleeve version. The Joules one ia good too but not as fitted in the waist.

Do you ladies size down in the Joules by any chance for a more fitted style?

Does anyone know if the Hobbs Haley bretons are thick? I like a fairly thick breton and these are gorgeous. Also i am a 12 but don't like fitted clothes. Should I get a M or a L?

MaryWestmacott · 01/04/2015 13:07

I recently bought this one from oasis - but is more like a fine knit than a thick t-shirt. Tis lovely though!
