Black coated jeans to a wedding evening do?

Would you wear black coated jeans with nice top (this one in fact) with heels to a wedding evening do? Or would that not be dressy enough? I always struggle with how formal I should be for wedding evening dos!

Or I could wear the coated jeans with this floral jacket

No way! Weddings - even evening dos - should be dressy occasions. You can wear jeans anywhere!

SuperFlyHigh · 26/03/2015 14:41

No, just no. get a smart pair of trousers if anything in black.

CloserToFiftyThanTwenty · 26/03/2015 14:41

No

snowgirl1 · 26/03/2015 14:46

Doesn't the fact coated jeans have a sheen to them make them dressier?

No, no way.

bialystockandbloom · 26/03/2015 14:48

No, sorry. I wouldn't wear trousers at all let alone jeans! Unless it's a really, really casual thing in a pub maybe, but even then you'd feel underdressed.

haggardoldwitch · 26/03/2015 15:52

Trouble is all the day guests will be dressed up to the nines. You might feel very underdressed.

dexter73 · 26/03/2015 16:18

I would!

JuliaDream · 26/03/2015 16:26

The last evening wedding do I went to, loads of people were wearing jeans and dressy tops.

So yes, I would wear jeans.

BackforGood · 26/03/2015 16:38

No - not unless you know it's one of those weddings where the B&G have got married in their jeans themselves because they don't want a fuss.

All the other guests will be dressed up in their 'wedding finery' so you would look very underdressed if you turned up in jeans.

Hobby2014 · 26/03/2015 16:43

I would. Unless you're going to also wear trainers and a baseball cap.
Dress them up with heels, nice jacket, jewellery, nice hair.

polyhymnia · 26/03/2015 17:02

No in my view. Too ordinary including with that top - unless, as said, you know the whole thing is going to be very dressed down. Coated jeans are a basic now, the same as any other type.

bblondemoment · 26/03/2015 17:36

Can't link cos I'm crap at computers (good at Internet shopping though) but I bought a lovely pair of black ankle grazer trousers from Zara, that could maybe be an alternative to jeans? X

RingtheBells · 26/03/2015 18:08

i would, as it is just the evening do not the actual wedding, either of what you have chosen will be fine unless its a really really posh do. All the evening do's I have been to, have been an assortment of outfits, or maybe I don't move in the right sort of circles Grin

snowgirl1 · 29/03/2015 22:04

DH agreed with those of you who said 'no', so I bought a dress and I'm glad I did. It was very dressy - there was only one lady wearing trousers and she looked rather casual compared to everyone else. My first Essex wedding - they're obviously dressy in Essex.

Oh god, no!

burnishedsilver · 29/03/2015 23:32

No.

burnishedsilver · 30/03/2015 00:11

I hadn't read your update. Sorry. Glad it worked out well. It can ruin a night if you feel very under or over dressed
