Help for summer dressing a pear shape!

Hello! I'm a size 12, 5ft 3 pear shape and have no clue what to wear on a summer holiday. Any outfit ideas? I have quite chunky thighs and upper arms so like to keep them covered but I'm 30 so don't want to look like an old lady! Have decent boobs and a thin waist but anything too figure hugging shows off my large bum and maxi skirts look awful because of my height! Anyone with similar problems? if you have any links to anything you own I would be forever grateful!

anyone? or is it as I suspected impossible to find a nice outfit!

What about A-line skirts? They flare out from the waist, so will skim the hips. You could wear tops with sleeves to go with it. Or a cropped cardi?

Something like this?

Ooh, thank you! That looks lovely. Any ideas for anything a bit more casual to wander around in during the day? Would love to find a pair of shorts that would fit me but they mostly make my thighs look like sausages Grin

I wear denim shorts from next ( the longer turn up ones ), I wear them with smock type tops so they cover my bum a little.

Lovewearingjeans · 26/03/2015 16:06

My go toos for during the day are cropped jeans from White Stuff or shorts. I don't have great legs, knobbly knees, but really don't care that much! Guess I have a good body image Smile Slim fitting shorts and smock tops sound like a good idea from Endler

With your shape you sound like a tea dress / fitted dress with a waist and full skirt would look great - with a cropped cardi for the arms. At 5 3 you should actually find the waists on these types of dresses are in the right place for you and they won't be too short.

one here

Wow, thanks everyone! Smock tops and denim shorts by day, and tea dresses with cropped cardigans by night it is!

Like that dress Magenta, a little pricey if I'm buying a whole holiday wardrobe though!

Yes it was just to give you an idea... :) Boden is pricey but you never need to pay full price as there is always a code - ESTR at the moment for 25% off. Or look on ebay too. You can also get that kind of dress at New Look, they often have a great choice.

Thanks Magenta - sorry I didn't mean to sound ungrateful!! I do like new look so will have a good rummage in there.
