ThermaVein & Rosacea, face now VERY red

So I have a ruddy rosacea complexion. In a desperate attempt to get rid of it (having unsuccessfully used various lotions & potions over the last couple of years) I decided to treat myself & get the redness removed, at least that's what was supposed to happen. Went today, she said it would be a bit red for 24hrs BUT I am now £249 worse off & my face is now REALLY red & a bit puffy having been zapped with a microwave needle thingy. Has anyone else had it done? What happened to you? Blush

Well, she did say 24 hours... How long ago was it? Where did you have it done (as in what place, Drs, beauticians etc).

CarpetDiem · 24/03/2015 20:09

12 o'clock today, face feels like its burning Confused Had it done at a reputable Drs clinic in Manchester.

Did they suggest any aftercare? I'd be phoning NHS Direct (or whatever it's called now!) if I was worried.

Water only today, no make up for 2 days. Think I'll try an antihistamine see if that helps & go to my own GP in the morning if it still feels like this Angry

Aw, that's rubbish Carpet (I love your username btw). I hope you feel better soon, and I hope the treatment works too.

How are you doing now OP?
Can you tell me more about the treatment, ThermaVein?
I've had laser and IPL and had no painful after effects with either, although there was some bruising - as expected - with V Beam laser. I also saw an immediate improvement with laser. I haven't heard of ThermaVein.
Have you contacted the place you had it done for some advice?

CarpetDiem · 25/03/2015 23:35

Hi Bobbi, panic over! It's calmed right down now. Still l

Looks red but not hot, burning, angry red. A different red from the ruddy roseacea red IYKWIM.
Anyway, I think I was shocked by the initial '3rd degree burn' look. It's just been a long time for me, researching 'cures' and trying different things (on a budget). I thought the therma vein was the answer. Have a google bobbi I can't link I'm afraid (on phone) but although it says results are instantaneous, there are after effects like what I've had but today I can see the light! My skin is sooo sensitive I should know better. The doc said the needle as opposed to the treatment may have caused the reaction. The antihistamine helped. Would I do it again? Well as fellow 'roseaceans' know, I'd try anything as it is embarrassing to look like an alcoholic when you hardly drink Envy

Don't touch this treatment with a bargepole! I had Thermavein nine weeks ago, disfigurement and some ongoing scaring to chest and face. Marketed as a safe treatment sadly it is anything but!

Hi. Just wondered how it healed in the end. I had this done on my legs 2 weeks ago and am concerned as have some small red and brown dots where the needle went in. Thanks

Hi! Anyone in this thread have any report on the outcome of their ThermaVein treatment? Was it a success? Thanks 😃
