What do you wear over maxi dresses?

I have ordered one. It is a big step for me, a tentative move towards not wearing jeans every day. But I think I'll probably now need to buy more stuff because the jumpers/hoodies that I wear with jeans are no good for over dresses, similarly the longish beige lightweight jacket I wear once it is no longer so bloody cold.

The dress I've ordered is [[http://www.hm.com/gb/product/52913?article=52913-B here]. It might be horrible once I try it on, and I'll end up back in jeans, but just for now, what kind of jacket(-y thing) would you wear with it?

I wear various things including denim shirt and jean jacket (not at the same time!)

Thanks, I was thinking of looking at denim jackets.

Just realised my link was un-clicky, so here it is again.

I'm going to be popping this over maxi dresses:

Nice H&M dress by the way!

Op, you read my mind. I just ordered this to go with summer/maxi dresses.

I looked for the perfect denim jacket for ages, then I found it, and it's cheap enough. I nearly paid a fortune for a Levi one, but I didn't like the fit.

nikkinack · 23/03/2015 22:00

Go on then frankie, it would take the sting out of buying it just to go with the dress :)

Denim jacket or a lightweight lacey cardigan

squiz81 · 24/03/2015 08:18

Denim jackets, crochet tops, crochet cardigans, knitted cardigans

penny13610 · 24/03/2015 08:23

Try a fitted t-shirt under it with a belt and then you can wear a lighter weight cardi or jacket over the top. Makes it more dressed down and extends the weather you can wear it in.

iaintdead · 25/03/2015 10:57

Lucille, what is the sizing like? I am thinking of getting the xl but I don't want to be caught out if really they are tight and I need the xxl.
is yours snug?

LucilleBluth · 25/03/2015 11:38

I have ordered the medium, I'm a size 12 but I want it quite fitted. It hasn't arrived yet so I will let you know. I used to live in Canada and would shop at Old Navy a lot, they always came up quite big imo.

iaintdead · 25/03/2015 12:38

Ah, thanks! I've ordered !Grin Grin

KissyBoo · 25/03/2015 13:09

I wear gringo front tie shrugs when it warms up. They never need ironing, dry quickly and are extremely light. You can scrunch them up in a bag and they come out looking perfect. They are flattering too and one size.

Several friends have nabbed borrowed several of mine Grin
