Foundation - match to face or neck?

My face is darker than my neck.

If I get a foundation to match my face, my face is a different colour to my neck.

I blend down and try to even it out but eventually I'm just covering my neck and décolletage etc in foundation - basically any skin showing above my top.

Could I match a foundation to my neck and try to get my face to match it?

I'm very pale, most foundations are too dark for me. Eg I'm using lightest shade of no7, they did the test thing on my face, and it's just too dark compared to my neck and compared to rest of my body ie arms/hands.

Any advice?
Thanks SmileSmile

Apply with a make up sponge and it'll all blend in nicely and give you a transparent but 'finished' look. I'd match to your face unless you're saying that your face and neck are poles apart in terms of colour ?

You're aiming for the covering of imperfections , not a firm foundation, if that makes sense

I found this Lisa Eldridge video on choosing foundation shades very useful.
