Summer wardrobe for the over 40s

Can someone please help me buy a summer wardrobe? I've recently turned 40 and I'm utterly lost as to what to wear. I've got autumn and winter dialled; I really like my wardrobe when it's cooler. But I just don't know what to wear in summer.

I'm 5'8, size 12, but with massive boobs and quite wide shoulders, which means I don't suit many dresses, I hardly ever wear them but I would if I could find some that suit me. I've got very good legs. I'm quite tomboyish and I don't really follow trends, I buy quite classic clothes usually. My summer wardrobe normally channels the Famous Five - boyfriend shorts worn v short, white plimsolls and shirts (which is a look I love but I think I'm getting a bit old for, and I do need more than one look!).

Shops I like - Cos, Reiss, Toast, Zara.

Price not really an issue.

Help me buy stuff, please?

I'm a completely different shape and size but am over 40...
I'm going for a sort of pared down parisian look this summer,in a neutral palette of white, navy, taupe, grey.
I'm planning on white skinnies either ankle length or cropped, silver grey vest, converse or jewelled toe thong sandals.
Above knee dresses in plain navy,Breton stripe, white if hot, grey.
I also like boyfriend jeans, shorts and I have some Boden Bistro crops in prints and navy that are nice.
Your shorts and shirt outfit sounds great, how about sleeveless tie front shirts?
There are a lot around this year.
If that's the look you like you could tweak with ankle length trousers or even flares? Grin
I recommend some plain jersey dresses though,so easy to wear.
Shop wise I like
White company
Mint velvet
Uniqlo
Whistles
Some plain Boden
Hush
Zara and H&M for jackets,I like Biker style personally.
Gosh, that turned into bit of an essay, sorry!
