is this too 'young' for someone in their 40s?

I really like it but is it something for 20 somethings? \link{http://www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=0&viewAllFlag=&langId=-1&storeId=12556&catalogId=33057&parent_categoryId=203984&categoryId=525523&productId=19039057#BVRRWidgetID\here}

I think it's got a pretty wide age appeal.

I'm in my 40s and wouldn't be able to consider wearing it without tights though, as my knees are very different to how they were in my 20s.

sleepwhenidie · 20/03/2015 20:25

Not at all!

dexter73 · 20/03/2015 20:26

Not at all. I think it is really pretty.

BitOutOfPractice · 20/03/2015 20:26

No OP, it's fine for woman in her 40s.

dexter73 · 20/03/2015 20:27

Mind you it is sold out Sad

MrsLettuce · 20/03/2015 20:28

No, it looks like something one might expect to find in Monsoon.

ZeroFunDame · 20/03/2015 20:29

Not great on anyone over 10 ...

(imvho.)

Greengardenpixie · 20/03/2015 20:35

its lovely. I would wear it and i am 47. My only worry with something like this is the pregnancy thing. I steer clear of empire line generally because of this. As for age, its definetly fine.

zero Many women in their 40's still look fairly young. Its all about what you wear with it and your over all style.

ZeroFunDame · 20/03/2015 20:46

Good grief - where did I say anything about women in their 40's? (I try not to speak of that which I can scarcely remember.)

OP I apologise for not answering your question more directly. I am sure you will look as good in the dress as any other adult - your exact number of years is largely irrelevant.

southeastastra · 20/03/2015 20:58

Just tried on again and i do feel a little like \link{http://worldcollectorsnet.com/tinytears/PalitoyTinyTears1970s.jpg\tiny tears} in it. i think my waist is too low. shame as i like it alot but it just looks odd on me.

OP posts:
ZeroFunDame · 20/03/2015 21:12

Would you consider anything like this instead?

ZeroFunDame · 20/03/2015 21:16

Or this if it's the denim that attracts you?

southeastastra · 20/03/2015 21:17

that would probably suit me more zero as it has no defined waist. never been in a cos though, might venture in

think the waist in the 2nd cos link is too like the topshop one. i just don't think i can do waists! wonder if i'd feel like a shapeless lump in the 1st link though, i usually live in jeans and shirts and want a nice dress :(

OP posts:
burnishedsilver · 20/03/2015 21:23

Not at all.
I'm in my 40s. It wouldn't be my thing but I don't think I'm too old for it.

ZeroFunDame · 20/03/2015 21:26

Ok. Do you mean a naice dress or a nice denim dress?

And what's your budget?

And is this too plain?

southeastastra · 20/03/2015 21:30

ooh i like that toast one alot! i wonder what the sizing is like though.

i do want a denim dress like that toast one though but they are proving elusive or do not fit

i got \link{http://www.joules.com/Outlet/Women/Aberly/Womens-Casual-Denim-Dress/Chambray?id=R_ABERLY%7CCHAMBRY\this} but i tried 14, 16 and 18 and they were all tight arm to arm. i have a wide back so it's hard to find a perfect fit.

i always end up in jersey type dresses which cling a bit

OP posts:
southeastastra · 20/03/2015 21:32

the topshop one in 14 does fit, just waist is too high

OP posts:
ZeroFunDame · 20/03/2015 21:37

If you look through the Toast dresses there are one or two that you might like. (It's a better than usual collection.)

burnishedsilver · 20/03/2015 21:44

Oh I love the toast one.
south I think the joules dress is too old for you.

burnishedsilver · 20/03/2015 21:45

There's a gorgeous denim shirt dress in the banana republic sale.

mammuzzamia · 20/03/2015 21:50

Agree that the joules dress is too old! On most people too I should think.

The dress in the OP would suit most ages, it could look nicely bohemian, if that's what you're aiming for.

southeastastra · 20/03/2015 21:53

where burnished? can't see it

OP posts:
ZeroFunDame · 20/03/2015 22:01

If you take a look here you may find a more than ample sufficiency of denim!
