How many shoes do your kids have?

Thinking about spring/summer footwear.
My 5.5yr old DS Obv needs school shoes, he also has wellies, pe pumps and a pair of trainers for outside of school. What footwear do your boys this age have for spring/summer?
Also have 2.5yr old DD who has clarks 'proper' shoes and wellies, what about for summer for her? She would happily only wear sparkly shoes but I need a bit of practicality!
They both measure 'E' fitting according to clarks, so lots of shoes are just too wide.
Just want an idea of what other people do :)

I was thinking about this the other day because my friend gave me a bag of shoes that no longer fit her dd.

She buys lots of cheaper fashion type shoes whereas my two dds have good quality boots or shoes depending on the season, trainers for PE and sport and wellies.

Although we have a uniform our school isn't fussy about footwear so they have good shoes/boots that they wear to school and for everyday that aren't your classic black school shoes.

I have bought them dressier shoes for special occasions in Next and they had the Clarks canvas doodles and Crocs for summer when they were younger.

Slothlorian · 19/03/2015 20:09

Mine have school shoes, home shoes and wellies that's it. But we are on a tight budget. In the summer I will get them a pair of cheap sandals.

Thelovecats · 19/03/2015 20:16

It is expensive isn't it! what sandals do you buy your kids? I tried crocs on my son but they are so wide on him. Even clarks doesn't have much choice in narrower fittings.

Mine are 3 and 1. Eldest has a pair of nice buckle shoes from start rite, a pair of cheap trainers from sainsburys for nursery/playing in garden and a cheap pair of sparkly pumps from primark. Oh and a pair of wellies altho they might be too small now. Youngest (who is properly walking) has apart of cruisers,

jacla40 · 19/03/2015 20:22

Clarks used to do a rubber croc type shoe but narrower and more shoe shaped that my dd loved but they no longer make them.

these

They were virtually indestructible and could be machine washed.

SmileAndNod · 19/03/2015 20:27

Ds - school shoes, casual boots, converse style pumps, crocs, wellies
Dd1 - school shoes, casual boots, doodles pumps, sandals (though probably won't fit this summer), crocs, wellies
Dd2 - first cruiser shoes

I tend to buy crocs and hunters in neutral colours so that they can be handed downSmile

NoRockandRollFun · 19/03/2015 20:33

School shoes, school trainers and out of school trainers all from Clarks. Party shoes, sandals, wellies all from Asda. A pair of Crocs. DD is 4 and has more pairs of shoes than me!

OP, DD also has narrow feet. I tend to buy anything with two Velcro straps and/or elastic laces (the ones that don't come undone)

Ohnodisaster · 19/03/2015 20:36

School shoes, trainers, wellies, party shoes and crocs. Oh and snow boots.

Crocs are supposed to be wide-my dd is an E and happily wears them.

NoRockandRollFun · 19/03/2015 20:38

Kids Teva or anything with a Velcro strap by the toes as well as the ankle can be quite good I've found.

Oly4 · 19/03/2015 21:08

Clarks Doodles are perfect for summer.. Around d 18 quid a pair.
My dcs only have a decent pair of leather shoes and some wellies each. They grow so quickly I don't see the point in loads of shoes

pootlebug · 19/03/2015 21:12

Mine are 7, 5 and 2.

Boots in winter, pair of decent-quality trainers year-round - which also get worn as school shoes in the spring/summer. Crocs in summer. Wellies for splashing in puddles. Cheap trainers or pumps for PE kit since stuff seems to go AWOL or get left in school when we need it at home. Eldest DD has party shoes.

Anaffaquine · 19/03/2015 21:13

Slippers, trainers, indoor school shoes, school shoes, wellies, snow boots, party shoes. 7 pairs

Skivvywoman · 19/03/2015 21:30

Dd has school shoes from John Lewis but desperately needs a new pair as hers are scuffed so badly

Black patent DMs
Bailey button uggs
Nike Air Force
Nike roshe
Nike hurrache
Black river island Chelsea boots
Pair of black sparkly sandals from next

For the summer I'm going to get her white leather converse
White Adidas superstars
And a pair of new Havanas

She's nearly 10

Artandco · 19/03/2015 21:40

They have lots of shoes! Slightly embarressed to list but about 10 pairs each. I buy good quality ones and pass on wellingtons/ slippers/ crocs to you get ds then friends. The other shoes I usually just throw as moulded to feet

Zebda · 19/03/2015 21:49

i try to keep shoes to a minimum, but only buy really decent quality.

DD (7) has 5 pairs of shoes this summer (we're about to go on a 2 week beach holiday so already all stocked up):
trainers (flashy light sketcher ones)
Clarks leather sandals (for wearing with dresses etc)
Clarks daytime sandals with really good trainer-style soles
flipflops (cheapos from decathlon, just for round the pool)
Clarks school shoes

DS (4) also has 5 pairs
trainers X2 (wears one for school, not in uniform yet)
Clarks leather sandals (stompo range)
Clarks leather boat shoes (for evening on hol/smart)
crocs (for beach/pool)

oh and both also have Wellies. Seems like a lot now its all written down.....

MrsPnut · 19/03/2015 21:53

Dd has school shoes, pair of suede boots, welly boots, trainers, walking boots, rugby boots, and a pair of trainers for school.

Zebda · 19/03/2015 21:53

ps just to add, I have never heard of 'E' fitting at Clarks, I've only ever been told they are F or G (with random abandon). Both mine have narrow feet (esp DD) but the clark's F has always been fine. She cant wear crocs anymore though now her feet are longer

toptomatoes · 19/03/2015 21:57

DC1 (8) - school shoes, trainers and plimsolls for PE (stay at school), trainers for football and a pair of casual shoes for out of school. He needs new wellies and will need sandals in the summer.

DC2 (4) has school shoes, plimsolls for PE, casual shoes for at home, wellies. Will get sandals in the summer.

DC3 (2) - boots, sparkly shoes and wellies. Will get sandals in the summer and one pair of shoes when she outgrows the boots and sparkly shoes as hopefully it won't be as cold!

Seriouslyffs · 19/03/2015 21:59

School shoes (double as posh), trainers, wellies and flip flops/crock types.
I bought DD16 some boots the other day and she said it was the first time she'd had new shoes before the other ones were too small or broken.
Blush

PeaceOfWildThings · 19/03/2015 22:07

When they were 5, they would have had a pair of school shoes and pe shoes (plimsoles). They might have had a pair of wellies, canvas/sand shoes or sandles for the summer, and wellies, but I remember that for one year none of them had any wellies to fit, only school shoes.

These days they have 2 or 3 pairs or school shoes, 2 pairs of boots, a few pairs of high heels/going out shoes, wellies, walking boots, other sports footwear, canvas shoes and a couple of pairs of trainers each. Their feet haven't grown much in the last year or two. Older DD also wears my shoes now and then!

slippermaiden · 19/03/2015 22:07

My two have narrow feet, crocs are fine, they are t meant to fit properly, you can happily schlep about in them. They have school shoes, nice shoes for parties meals out etc, wellies, trainers and cheap converse. My daughter also has snow boots.

Artandco · 19/03/2015 22:10

We travel a fair bit due to family and work. This means we can be in snow climates, heat waves or anything in between most of the year. Hence we always have a supply of snow boots, alongside sandals at the same time.

meglet · 19/03/2015 22:14

8yo DS has got; Clarks school shoes, Cheap school trainers, football boots, wellies, nice clarks weekend trainers, cheap weekend trainers for running and football with mates and cheap winter boots. so that's 7 pairs on the go.
