I love this dress so much but i am not sure where i would wear it and how practical it would be. Would it look good dressed down in the day with sandals and sunglasses?

Oh i should really stay off that website. I was actually looking for jeans. But i hate jeans so much i always end up with bloody dresses Blush

I have 2 small dc so is it a ridiculous dress to buy, and should i just get some bootcut jeans and mum boots instead?

Right, i've ordered it. eek. Apart from my wedding dress that's the most i've ever spent on a frock.

It's all good MrsK! Either it's not quite what you dreamed of in which case phew, you've saved loads. Or it is THE perfect dress for all kinds of special occasions and will last you forever, in which case it's a bargain :)

I think Margot B is a great style icon and while I don't think that dress is ageing or "mature" as a PP said, I do think it's ageless and would work for any age. You could still be wearing it in your 70s and looking amazing.

Thisishowyoudisappear · 20/03/2015 09:36

You are def tall enough to pull it off and if you already know DVF suits you I say go for it. It would look great with flat sandals in the day.

MagentaMouflon · 20/03/2015 09:51

Ooops Margot LB

burnishedsilver · 20/03/2015 10:50

The top half is wintery but you'd normally wear summer shoes with a maxi. Its not really a spring summer dress and it's not a autumn winter dress. I'm not sure what I'd do with it.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 20/03/2015 10:54

I love that dress OP. It's the kind of thing I could never wear because I'm 5' 1", but I think it will look good on a taller person. Make sure you come back with a photo!

xiaozhu · 20/03/2015 11:21

I love that dress Koala, and think you could dress it down with some flip flops and a big floppy sun hat. Wrap dresses are so flattering - just wish I could afford DVF!

MrsKoala · 20/03/2015 11:59

really burnish, i think the opposite. i'm sick of sleeveless and being freezing. Usually on holiday, even somewhere hot, i need my arms covered at night. And in this country i always need my arms covered unless a really hot day. i would say it's perfect for spring and autumn with some flat pumps and cool summer evenings with sandals.

See? It will go well with sandals, sunglasses and babies Grin

I've fallen in love with this dress...
MrsKoala · 20/03/2015 13:24

wow, i have almost the same hair as her, just add a fringe and it could be me! - if i was much younger and was slimmer with bigger boobs - so EXACTLY like me. Grin

I will post a pic when it arrives and i want honest opinions and if it looks shit i will send it back.

MrsKoala · 20/03/2015 13:25

OP posts:
Twinklestein · 20/03/2015 13:27

Looks like Miranda Kerr, Orlando Bloom's ex.

MrsKoala · 20/03/2015 13:33
Confused

i know who Jim Kerr is. Is she related to him?

OP posts:
tethersend · 20/03/2015 14:53

I have no idea who it is. Budge up on the gimmer bench Grin

MrsKoala · 20/03/2015 15:17

No relation to Jim Kerr that I know of. She's an Austrialian Victoria Secrets model.

VillaVillekulla · 20/03/2015 17:11

How about this? www.baukjen.com/uk/m/baukjen-sale/kirkham-maxi-dress-wine.htm

Similar style but plain fabric so maybe more versatile. And cheaper Smile

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 20/03/2015 17:15

Ha, my first thought was Margot as well!

But I've now reached the age and stage of life where I've decided that dresses/clothes should not be kept for best, or I'd never get to wear the bloody things more than once a year at most! So I wear stuff whenever I feel like it, more to suit my mood than anything else (well, weather too of course!) This has resulted in a few oddnesses - going shopping in a full length velveteen dress for e.g. (admittedly straight after I'd been to a funeral, so not entirely odd but it felt "wrong" in the shopping centre)

Can't believe you don't know who Miranda Kerr is though! ShockWink

MrsKoala · 20/03/2015 17:37

My pet hates Thumb is the thinking behind spending a fortune on things you only wear once/a handful of times and hardly anything on the items you wear daily. i realised i did this a while back and thought wtf? So now i spend the most of my budget on jeans/decent tops/daywear shoes/day dresses/dresses i can dress up and down. And the very smallest amount on the high fashion shoes/items i will wear for a 'do' and then never again.

I budget the very most i can for jeans, coats and winter shoes especially. I must have wasted a fortune on cheap jeans in my life. They all look shit on me.

Margo is a fashion legend, and i also love that number Bev wears in Abigails party. The problem i have is being bigger framed too many flounces make me look like a man in drag.

What i am also fancying atm is a jumpsuit. As i'm quite leggy i like them.

Love the dress! Margot style would rock anywhere. Hope you love it when it arrives!

superbfairywren · 20/03/2015 21:00

Glad to see you've bit the bullet and ordered it, bet it will look fab when it arrives.
It Would be a bit wasted if you cover up your arms but this is the style I meant.. here
Hopefully the link works. I've seen it in a few patterns but can only find this example. I would kill for a dvf dress and even have them in my saved searches on eBay just in case, but just can't warrant the expense of a new one at the moment. Big birthday next year so hoping for one then.

burnishedsilver · 20/03/2015 21:08

I stand corrected. That photo is lovely.

BestIsWest · 20/03/2015 22:20

I've gone back and looked at it again and I really do like it. I love those Margot kaftans too.
