Where can I get decent lipstick/gloss colour advice?

I used Boots matchy thing to find the shade of lippie that suited me. I hate it! It's too pink! I feel like a clown in it. I am fair skinned with light brown hair and brown eyes and tend to veer towards neutral/peachy colours but can't always see them once on. I just don't feel the pinky colours suit me.

Is MAC or any of the other counters worth going to? I just want a decent lippie shade, sick of spending money to hate each one!

Thanks.

I love MAC lipsticks as there are so many different shades and textures.
It's so much easier to find a shade you like, I find. You can always ask them to recommend one for you too, and try it on you. Unlike with some other lipsticks, with their nudes and beiges you can really see them, and don't come up transparent! I only ever wear lighter colour lipsticks. I have dark hair, light skin (but not overly fair) and brown/hazel eyes, and even I don't like pinks on me! Like you say, I feel like a clown!
However, if you have lots of pinky shades that you don't want to throw away, I recommend getting mac's 'myth' lipstick which is one of the lightest nudes they do, and you could pop a little bit over one of the pinks the lighten it up a bit so it's not so harsh. Other nudes are 'yash', 'velvet teddy', 'peachstock', 'faux' ... there are lots, honestly! Well worth the money. Good luck! Grin

On and their lip glosses (called Lipglass) are brilliant too, I've only had one in a nude colour, I can't remember what shade it was, and the colour shows through well

I like MAC colours and only own MAC lipsticks since you get a free one every time you return any 6 MAC empties. However, they really, really don't stay on. Or am I missing a trick?

What kind of colour clothes suit you? It will help re what lipstick colours suit you.

Brookville I find the same problem with all lipsticks! I think it may be because I have generally dry lips so it doesn't cling to them very well. I know you can get lip primers and things etc, I'm just a bit lazy with it all Confused

Oh I've just remembered another brand of lipstick I used to wear a lot - Barry M! They're staying power is quite good, and they're affordable too. I can't remember exactly the choice of nudes they have but it's worthy look. Although it'll be a case of testing some out (but not directly on to your lips!) as there's no one there to help you with choosing
