Anyone else with this bra problem

cartoontrickster · 19/03/2015 15:53

I find most bras seem to come up to high in the arm pit and pinch a bit but at the front rather than in the actual pit iyswim. I struggle to find a flattering and comfortable bra, even then they seems ok when I first put then on but by the end of the day the cups are gapping. it's as if my boobs have sank down.
I have a Cleo Jude that is awful the wires dig into my boobs in the middle and the cups gape. it does nothing for me no matter how much I scrape myself in haha.
I think I measure 29 and 37 around boob. my most recent purchases have been 28ff a g seems too big. my 30f bras gape in the cup.
any suggestions of styles I could try??
I tried 8 or 9 styles on my last trip and found one that was comfortable.

I have that. I've found Curvy Kate bras have a wider spacing and are much better for me. I think you just have to try different brands until you find one that works.

cartoontrickster · 20/03/2015 06:46

thanks I've never tried a curvy Kate, infact don't think I've seen them in the shops.
Anyone else??

Can you please have a look at your bras and try to work out whether the outside edge of the cups is sitting beyond the edge of your breasts ie whether the cups are too wide? Would you say your breasts are heavier on the bottom than the top? Apart from jude which other bras do you have and what is the fit like on those? Oh and do you have a fairly short torso or high set bust?

Sorry lots of questions! The rubbing can be numerous causes so trying to narrow it down

SorrelForbes · 20/03/2015 08:49

TBH, I think many people struggle to get a good fit with moulded bras such as the Cleo Jude. I'm sure we can find you something better.

cartoontrickster · 20/03/2015 08:50

sorry I'm Here now! double checked my measurements 28 and a half round the ribcage and 37 over boob done loosely 36 if I pull it in a bit.
my Cleo jolie 28ff is ok. apart from the Jude all my others are freya or Boyd avenue. deco Is ok patsy and I think Lauren are awful but they are 30f's.

I am short bodied and do they my boobs are bottom heavy.
the underwires seem to end towards the back of my arm pit more than middle. the straps are pretty much in my arm pit!
hope that's everything and all makes sense! sorry typing in a rush!

OP posts:
StatisticallyChallenged · 20/03/2015 08:59

I think you probably need something with narrower cups - the patsy for example is designed for quite wide, shallow and bottom heavy boobs so it sounds like the wires are going to far round for you. Have you tried the Cleo Lily/Minnie at all? they're narrower and quite good for bottom heaviness. If you like the Jolie I'm also wondering about you trying the Juna.

cartoontrickster · 20/03/2015 09:49

the Minnie if it's the one I'm thinking of I was pleasantly surprised by as none moulded ones normally give me pointy boobs. I've had a juna before far to small now but I did like it will try again. I think having a baby has really changed my boobs!

OP posts:
StatisticallyChallenged · 20/03/2015 10:12

Cleo non moulded are normally quite rounded compared to the likes of Freya which make my boobs pointy! Non moulded are generally easier to get a good fit with

cartoontrickster · 20/03/2015 14:54

hopefully I will be in Bluewater on Monday so can go bra shopping. I may be back with more questions! Smile

OP posts:
cartoontrickster · 23/03/2015 14:11

well freya was pretty much the only brand I could get so I have 2 freya raptures (?) they seemed quite comfortable.
I went to Victoria secret and boux avenue both practically laughed in my face saying no way was I less than 30 in vs, 32 in ba. so very confused! obviously a 32 is comfy because it's like I'm not wearing a bra being a far looser band than I'm used to.
the girl in Victoria secret told Me that the reason I find bras become loose quickly round the back is because they need to stretch too much to accommodate me. any truth in that??

OP posts:
DamsonInDistress · 23/03/2015 14:57

They're talking bullshit to try and sell you a bra! You can safely ignore them :)

DamsonInDistress · 23/03/2015 14:58

You didn't buy the 32's did you? They won't fit properly at all.

cartoontrickster · 23/03/2015 15:27

no I didn't buy one haha. I thought they were talking rubbish. the girl in boux avenue was so rude about it as well!

SuperFlyHigh · 23/03/2015 16:00

cartoon - Boux Avenue have had bad reviews and Victoria's Secret I don't like for bras anyway!

This site: www.investinyourchest.co.uk is great, fairly unbiased, reviews bra shops, brands and also tells about breast shapes...

cartoontrickster · 23/03/2015 16:28

thanks for the link super will check it out properly later.
it's a shame bra shopping is often such a horrible experience. I think online shopping Is my next option hate the faff of returning when things don't fit!

OP posts:
SuperFlyHigh · 23/03/2015 16:44

depending where you are OP Bravissimo are great and for younger styles and sometimes a bit cheaper Debenhams are also very good (they have Freya/Panache and their own bigger range).

cartoontrickster · 23/03/2015 17:06

never think of debenhams I will give them ago. love bravissimo it's not local but the Milton Keynes one isn't too far. I think a trip to mk is needed. I really thought there would be more choice at Bluewater.

OP posts:
SuperFlyHigh · 23/03/2015 18:07

Op when I was at Stratford Westfield I was disappointed that only m&s, boux avenue, aubade and Victoria secret were there and john lewis re bras. Nothing else. Disappointing.

StatisticallyChallenged · 23/03/2015 18:51

Boux have been caught a few times doing the add 4" thing, then they deny doing it then do it again. Muppets!

The girl who said re stretching was talking crap. Bras stretch because they need to be firm in the band to provide support. That's why new bras should always fit on the loosest hook so you have space to tighten them up. But a bra which is worn very regularly won't actually last all that long really.

StatisticallyChallenged · 23/03/2015 18:56

PS debenhams range is ok but their fitting not so much! And their own brand Gorgeous range sometimes runs tight in the band in the smaller sizes.

Iamaslummymummy · 23/03/2015 18:58

Leia in bluewater upstairs are very good at fitting. They fit by eye

cartoontrickster · 23/03/2015 19:27

Leia is where I went first and ended up with two 28g bras.
it's so confusing that they fit so differently, I guess it Is to make me buy a bra as they don't really do my size.
I was in shock when in Victoria secret she put the tape measure under my arm pits and above my boobs!

OP posts:
StatisticallyChallenged · 23/03/2015 19:57

VS measuring is particularly funny. Leia are good - they're owned by the company who make Freya I believe so they fit properly. The have the same sort of approach as Bravissimo. Really good shops don't need to use a tape measure as they have the right selection of bras to enable them to do trial and error - we obviously have to use it when we're helping online but the crucial thing is that the start point doesn't add inches to the underbust which is correct on average. There are a small number of people who need a bigger band size than their underbust measurement - generally very slender women with little padding or those with very flared rib cages - and similarly some women (those with softer torsos) sometimes need a smaller number than they measure.

It used to be necessary to add inches, a long time ago when bras weren't so stretchy. It's a terrible method now though.

cartoontrickster · 23/03/2015 20:42

I'm glad you've all confirmed that boux and vs are crap!
today did put a seed of doubt in my mind and made me feel crap.
good thing I trusted Leia although I hope I get on with these ones better than some of the other freya's.
I definitely want to see how a Cleo juna fits me and idea how the cup comes up? my other Cleo one is a ff. the freya's I got today are G cups.

OP posts:
StatisticallyChallenged · 23/03/2015 21:42

I generally wear roughly the same size in Cleo as Freya, maybe 1 cup size smaller sometimes
