Tan Accelerators- re they worth it?

Are they worth the expense?
The effort?
Do they actually work?
And if you do use them, which one do you favour?
How far in advance do you start?

I don't use body lotion, so it's not a case of swapping a lotion for an accelerator.

I don't have skin that tans easily, I do use a Factor 20+ on holiday.

TIA

Not really.

You tan by the production of melanin, and no topical application changes the rate of that process.

Moisturisers which contain a tiny bit of fake tan (and build up colour slowly) might be a better bet.

Not in my experience. I forked out for the Elemis one year and the Gatineau the year after, didn't make a no and bit of difference apart from the Elemis one staining my tops!
Then again I am practically a smurf so will never tan, something I have now accepted!

I used to use the elemis one combined with a tan intensifying sun block.
I felt like I came back with a deeper tan. My Dad used my sun block in Kenya once and he went the same shade as Jodie Marsh in a body comp!

Oh I was thinking about trying one but not sure I will bother now. Last year I used a Nivea sun cream which had some built in tan accelerator or something to trigger melatonin (allegedly) and I honestly felt I did tan better than usual and didnt burn. Cant remember the name but planning on getting it again this year.
