I had it replaced two years ago because it suddenly started smoking and stopped working. Same thing has happened again. Usually only use it 1 or twice a week. Hmm
Is this a common problem with them?
Is there an alternative?

No idea if it's a known fault but mine did the same, a few months after I bought it. Took it back to Argos who replaced it. I haven't used the other one as much but so far so good

Zame · 18/03/2015 20:05

Sorry i just realised that was completely unhelpful . Bumping to see if there's an alternative

HarlotOTara · 18/03/2015 20:11

I have one and it is fine, I use it most days but my hair is virtually dry when I use it so don't use it for long

Lol at delinquent BBH with fags and benefits Grin

Sorry but your phrasing tickled me.

TheFutureMrsB · 18/03/2015 20:54

I've got a very similar thread going at the moment, no smoke though thankfully .

Greengardenpixie · 19/03/2015 00:56

I have had mine for a couple of months. Tend to use it once a week. I havent had any problems so far but have read others saying that it can stop rotating.

realhousewifeoffitzrovia · 19/03/2015 09:39

Oddly, this very thing happened to my BBH just yesterday Angry! It was two years old but still. I will see if changing the fuse in the plug thing-y will help but I expect it is the motor that overheated.

They have a 2 or 3 year warranty. If you dont have the reciept, google Conair, ring them and quote the number on the unit handle. If its in warranty, you post it back and they fix it or send you a new one. Mine was turned around in 3 days. They are renowned for being a bit shoddy. Good luck

janinlondon · 19/03/2015 09:55

Yes, happens often, and usually at about the 2 year mark. John Lewis just replace mine when they blow.

sailorsgal · 19/03/2015 13:57

Had an email from conair as kept the box and the invoice which they sent with the last replacement. Have to send the product number etc.

The NEW Big Hair is better than the original but I got almost 3 years out of mine. I think the trick is to use it when your hair is virtually dry becuase this ain't a hair dryer and using it on wet or even quite damp hair will just knacker it. Also remember to take your finger of the spin button when you have your hair wrapped around and you're holding it still, if you know what I mean. I've had one replaced so far that packed up just before the guarantee was up so I got a shiny new one for free Smile with no fuss from babyliss. tbh even it packed up every year and i had to pay for it, a years worth of blow drys for £40 is ok by me. I honestly couldn't live without it.
