Can't tell you what to buy but if I were going id definitely be hitting bath and body works and sephora to stock up Grin

Crest Whitening strips, painkillers, Sephora is great but research what you want first! Bath and Bodyworks have amazing scents that you can layer - shower gel, scrub, moisturiser etc - and gorgeous candles. Essie is cheaper as well, and Duane Read sell OPI at decent prices. There's also some brilliant whitening toothpastes there that you can't get here.

Definitely septoria, write him a list from their website.

My mil goes twice a year and I get her to pick up converse trainers for ds, she gets them from tjmaxx and they work out about £10.

squiz81 · 16/03/2015 18:51

That should have been sephora, silly autocorrect!

Trudester · 16/03/2015 19:33

Depends where in the States they're off to. If they go to a discount outlet village, then good finds are usually Calvin Klein knickers, Nike trainers. Michael Korrs is usually good value out there.

AcrossthePond55 · 16/03/2015 19:56

Find out if there's an 'Ulta' beauty supply store near where he'll be. Like Sephora, only twice the size.

justaweeone · 16/03/2015 20:33

It's Chicago
Won't have much time
He will need a list and Dd 17 would love some new converse

There's a designer outlet mall right by O'Hare - like, 5 mins in a taxi. You can check in at the airport then kill a bit of time before going through security. They have loads and loads of US brands - I usually pay a trip to Bath and Bodyworks and J Crew for jeans, cashmere and their ballet shoes which have a hidden heel and are sooo comfortable. Looks like they have a Converse store as well Smile

It's called Fashion Outlets of Chicago.

FreiasBathtub · 16/03/2015 20:41

Sorry, would've linked but am on the app and no idea how!

justaweeone · 16/03/2015 22:13

Thank you Freias

J Crew for jeans, Sephora/Ulta for makeup. I like Old Navy too. If I was going id probably buy a new purse/bag too as its cheaper.
oh american snacks/candy if thats your thing :)

EnormousDormouse · 17/03/2015 06:48

Any recommendations for the whitening toothpastes mentioned?

FinallyHere · 17/03/2015 07:17

DP is there regularly, recent brilliant purchases include Contigo mugs and anything from Apple.

Will he have an address where you can have things delivered? You can sometime, but not always, order things on line.

Amethyst24 · 17/03/2015 08:25

Secret deodorant!

carrie74 · 17/03/2015 12:20

We go at least once a year, and I bring back, without fail:

peanut butter M&Ms
Almond M&Ms
Various family favourite foostuffs
Secret gel deodorant
Victorias Secret pants and bras
J Crew
Old Navy (depending Whats in stock: my DD(9) likes their swimwear.
Gap if a good sale (otherwise their 30% days are better here)
Often some Apple product or other. My H is gutted the Apple watch won't be released while we're there, but we may replace our laptop, which is starting to run slow.
Some kind of outlet bargain buys (usually RL polo tops for my son at an outlet, jeans - I like Lucky Brand, but if there is a US designer you like, it'll be cheaper there, DKNY Cozies are bargainous in outlets, sportswear).

We're off in 2 weeks, CANT WAIT!!
