I would really like my hair colour to be similar to the colour shown in the pictures below, especially as i'm now approaching a significant birthday and want to try and make myself presentable :-)

Trouble is, I've taken these pictures to various hairdressers and not once has my hair turned out....it has ranged from a bright red (!) to an almost jet black! (that one was at a very well known salon and paid a fortune for it). Can anyone advise if there is perhaps a home dye which would result in colour below or should i just go to salon and try again - in which case, can anyone advise on what I should ask hairdresser for to ensure it turns out.

I think you should get this moved to style and beauty, as they have lots of posters who are hairdressers or knowledgeable about colours on there. Report your post and ask MNQH to move it.

Hi all. We're going to move this over to Style and Beauty in just a moment.

Try a castings as they are semi permanent and have a wide range of mid browns / russets and reds so you should find one fairly close to what you want?

Try nice n easy warm auburn.

I used loreal prodigy in 5.30 Tan and it turned out like that.
my natural hair is blonde with red tones. The only thing I find is to pick a colour on the box lighter than you think you want. And always give it a day or two, and a wash before you decide that you hate it. Depending on your hair colour now you may have to change your make up as well.
