Help with wedding outfit please!

I have bought this dress for a warm-weather wedding in the summer. I am told is is not to be a traditionally formal affair, so I want to dress the outfit accordingly.

I am going to wear flat sparkly sandals and I am looking for an arm-cover for insecurities sake!

I will find the link to one I am considering...

The dress is in the pink daiquiri colour.

I am thinking of this shrug.

What do you think stylish people?

I like it Smile

Ziggyzoom · 13/03/2015 12:39

Thank you. I got the dress at a bargain £50, so I think the price of the shrug is partly why I'm hesitating. Glad you like it!

I am not sure I like green with the pink dress. But it could be a nice contrast msybe

Ziggyzoom · 13/03/2015 13:02

That's what I was hoping for.

One "yes" and one "not sure", any other views?

Love it.

LadyB49 · 14/03/2015 21:05

Not sure of the shrug.
I'd prefer a fab wrap IMHO.

dibly · 15/03/2015 12:42

Sorry but I don't think the shrug goes, agree a wrap or a plainer shrug.

Ziggyzoom · 15/03/2015 14:07

Thank you. I was trying to avoid the faffiness of a wrap and as the dress is plain I fancied introducing a bit of pattern. But I see the opinions are divided.

I think the shrug will contrast beautifully with the dress. It's a little hard to tell how the shrug will look on, whether it might be too droopy for the dress but, if you can, I'd definitely get it so you can try them on together. You could always return it if it didn't work.

RonaldMcDonald · 16/03/2015 01:19

I like it, I would nod if I saw it at a wedding

Ziggyzoom · 16/03/2015 13:08

I think I will go for it, as you say pants - I can always return it.
I like the idea of a wedding "nod"! Grin

I'd love to see a photo when you get the outfit together.
I'd give it a nod too Smile

Ziggyzoom · 17/03/2015 16:17

Although it said it was out of stock, it has arrived!

Ignore the fact that it all needs pressing and I'm not exactly model material, what do you think?

OP posts:
Hoppinggreen · 17/03/2015 16:28

I don't like the shrug with it. It's too big, needs to be more fitted and I'm not sure the colour goes either

polyhymnia · 17/03/2015 16:38

Wow Dudnt realise the dress was so bright. Too much going on there, both colour wise with the strong green and red and generally, but that's just my personal view . I'm not a great fan of lots of strong colour anyway.

CloserToFiftyThanTwenty · 17/03/2015 16:38

All a bit voluminous together (lovely separate pieces though)

Ziggyzoom · 17/03/2015 16:43

Thank you. Not going well so far.

I don't mind a splash of colour and this is going to be a wedding in a hot country - I need float for ventilation!

It may appear more voluminous as I have shown it at its fullest so that the shape is apparent.

I would like a bit of contrast, but not a total clash!

OP posts:
Twinklestein · 17/03/2015 17:07

I agree the shrug is totally wrong - clashing colours, far too big, swamps the dress.

The dress is very bright so that needs to be the main event. As the bodice is fitted I would go for a slim fitting shortish shrug in a quiet colour.

MelanieCheeks · 17/03/2015 17:11

Lovely dress, awful kimono, looks like a dressing gown.

Ziggyzoom · 17/03/2015 17:23

I think I will save myself some money and send it back Sad.
Back to the drawing board, but thank you for your honesty.

OP posts:
Twinklestein · 17/03/2015 18:02

What about a chiffon bolero with short sleeves?

Sidge · 17/03/2015 18:07

They just don't "go".

With a dress like that I think you need something more fitted; something more like this?

I love the dress though!

LoveVintage · 17/03/2015 18:27

Ah, thought you'd got the dress in the blush pink colour. Think they are too different sorry
