Ossie Clark dress

One of my favourite possessions, in utterly mint nick, is my floral printed Celia Birtwell/Ossie Clark for Radley long crepe floaty evening dress. I like it so much I can't bring myself to wear it.

Which is just as well because I've got to sell it to make the cat's staggering medical bills. Mr Cory the fat tabby has had a thyroidectomy and might need another op to keep him stabilised. He is worth it, little fudgy pumpkin that he is.

How would you suggest I sell it? Deeply reluctant to use ebay as a buyer could get it, wear it for months, and then send it back for a refund. Which given these dresses are worth a bit must be a risk.

Anywhere else that would take it? I am miserable to report it was destined for the V&A (it's one of the very rare printed ones) or my nieces but the cat needs to stay alive.

One of Kerry Taylor's auctions.

You could sell it yourself on Etsy, or contact this seller, they might buy it from you, as they know their stuff and have a lot of museum pieces etc.

Brilliant, thanks so much. Kerry Taylor looks great.

Have you looked at Vestaire Collectif and Covetique?

Otherwise there are boutique sellers on ebay who sell designer stuff, like www.shonamac.com

Bearing in mind the above agencies take a big cut, you may find you make more money selling it yourself on ebay.

This isn't possible. If you don't accept returns then you would only accept it back if the item was not as described. I only accept a return if I am notified within 24 hours of its arrival, and I use tracked postage so I know when it was delivered.

I've not had any problem selling designer stuff on ebay.

To be honest, I don't think that the dress will make much of a dent in vet bills, I'm not sure if it's worth selling if you love it so much.

Thanks so much. Dress must go, every little helps and all that. Plus it's one of the v rare ditsy print Ossie Clark's, so might go well.

Blimey, how much are the fees? Can you get insurance in the future?
