According to sizing charts...

...my hips, at 44 to 46 inches would not fit into a size 18, and yet I wear 14's loosely. I know there's a lot of angst about shops sizing differently, but I find this even with sewing patterns. Anyone else?

My waistline (34", but reducing slowly ) should just fit into a size 16, but they comfortably fit into size 12 jeans. I bought a pair of size 30 Gap jeans, (presume that's the waist size?), but when I measured the waist with a tape measure, it's actually 34"!!
