Talk to me about pre lightening at home

At present my hair is dark red and in a short inverted bob after going from long hair. I really want it ginger and am thinking of prelightening it. Is it easy? Have you done it with good results?

Yep - it's especially easy if you want to go ginger because that is one of the tones it passes through on the way to blonde. Obviously just rinse at the ginger stage and then tone. With that undertone it will last longer as red dye notoriously fades-but if you are ginger underneath it will stay true.

Thank you kissy, so if I notice it going ginger just rinse off? Then am I ok to pop a colour straight on the same day?

Yes- never had a problem. Make sure you don't condition after prelightener and dry the hair so the dye goes on dry hair. It should only take about 10-15 mins to get it light enough.

Wow, excellent, any recommendations for brands to use?

I have the prelightener on my head right now, feeling a little nervous Confused
