Need Plus Size dress for Hen party.

I'm going to a Hen party next month, the dress code is dress/skirt and heels.
Since having my DD I am a size 22 and have nothing suitable.
I've tried all the obvious places online but I'm really struggling to find an outfit that isn't either frumpy (I'm 28) or really short/low cut/tight.

I know it's stupid to get upset over something like this but my weight is a huge factor in my depression and it'll be my first night away from baby anyway so emotions are running high and I'm close to tears, any help would be really appreciated.

What sort of shape are you - pear, apple?

I'm an apple myself and would probably look for something fairly structured and firm. This Simply Be dress has something, I think, though it would need some BIG beads to go with, maybe something with interspersed crystals and black beads.

Quite like this pink job too, though the waistline could be a bit high for me.

Have you tried Yours? www.yoursclothing.co.uk
They have some nice dresses in stock.

I like this one but would probably buy in black even though I love the pink as black is my fail safe

I like this one - worth trying on?

dreamcometrue · 09/03/2015 15:06

Have you tried asos? What kind of dress/style are you thinking of? I'm a size 22 and I buy a lot of dresses off eBay, once I know what style suits me. I've had some lovely asos, monsoon and new look ones.

I'm an Apple and think it's hard to beat a shift dress, not baggy, just skimming. And if it's sleeveless....a lovely big lightweight wrap scarf to drape.

LokiPokey · 09/03/2015 15:25

I guess I'm an apple shape now, small boobs and huge tummy and hips Confused

The dresses posted are nice but I'm sure they'd look horrid on me.
Tbh I'm not sure what I'm after.
A miracle dress that shows the least amount of flesh possible whilst not looking frumpy somehow.

I've tried Yours, ASOS and New Look where I normally shop but had no luck.
Will have a look at eBay now :)

I've not seen monroeknows.com before.
I quite like the longer sleeves and just below knee style. Maybe that would work if I got some decent shapewear too?

Thanks for all the ideas and suggestions everyone.

I agree, I like the Monroeknows ones as well Smile

Hope you have a good time!

So Fabulous @ Very are really flattering - I've had about 4 going out dresses from there.

^I love that one!If you're an apple, you probably have good legs so I think that'd look great. Put on some snappy jewelry, play up your good points and have a great time :)

Having a look around and I think the ones from monroe knows are winning.

I really like that one too Poochlover!
I wouldn't say I have good legs, but I do have legs Grin
Was thinking of these shoes to go with it m.newlook.com/shop/shoe-gallery/view-all-wide-fit/wide-fit-pink-chunky-ankle-strap-block-heels_331535570?pProduct=331535560

I love those Monroe ones - even full price. I was going to say shapewear is your friend in all this. I have some and whenever I wear it everyone asks if i have lost weight.

I have a slip from M&S that sits under your bra, covers tummy, back, bum and top thighs. Its good because when you get a bit tiddly its still possible to go to the ladies and restore yourself without doing yourself a mischief as I have done with spanx (fell over pulling them up and gave myself a shiner - couldn't make it up was so drunk it was 'hilair')

one of those with a pair of tights with extra support and you'll feel a million dollars. A dress like that and you'll look it, too.

polyhymnia · 09/03/2015 22:34

I really don't much like the Leigh one - the two lengths aren't that easy to carry off. Prefer some of the knee length ones.

Have you looked at Boden who go up to 22? Maybe worth checking out. I personally much prefer to special 'plus' retailers - Simply Be, Yours, etc which I - personally again - can't bear.
