Tan leather cross body bag- need inspiration

I'm looking for a brown or tan leather bag that can be worn cross body so I can be hands free. Really need some inspiration. No budget as such. Happy with designer labels but dislike obvious branding.

HelpMe of your 2 I much prefer the McQueen, the detailing is lovely as is the colour. The hermes bag is not much more than the Marcie with the handles and shoulder strap, especially when purchased in France as the exchange rate is good at the mo. It's very much a staple stock item so doesn't involve the long waiting times you hear of for the Birkin (which I don't actually like) or the Kelly. I'm going to track down the Antony and try on this week, potentially the men's messenger. If I but from John Lewis this time I may do better than I did with mulberry customer service. Having said all that I may also pop in and try in the hermes again too.

I'm currently lusting after this from zara it's ticking all the boxes apart from the size, it's a little big, but I really like the braiding detail. haven't seen it in rl though

HelpMeGetOutOfHere · 09/03/2015 13:03

ooh MincePie i'll be Envy if you get the hermes. Grin

Fairy that's really nice. My local Zara is huge but stock is always far better online than in store.

BallroomWithNoBalls · 09/03/2015 14:55

YUM at the Hermes bag! It's beautiful and you might not find a bag that lives up to it. Go and have a play with it, go on Wink

Mominatrix · 09/03/2015 15:31

Mince, I have that Hermes bag and it is great and worth every pence. Only problem is that it is unlined. I also have the jypsiere by them (will link later - it is too much of a faff to link on an iPad), which I find more versatile. It is the cross body version of the birkin, and looks smarter, and holds more.

MincePieDiet · 09/03/2015 15:41

Ooh Mominatrix EnvyEnvy what colour and size do you have? I like the Jypsiere too but while the evelyne is entry level in terms of price sadly the Jypsiere is not. Looking forward to your links though!

mince, it is this exact bag - 31cm canopee (fantastic colour - it is olive without any brown undertones). I use a twirly to transform it into a shoulder bag.

One day I will own the Mimi Berry Honey in tan. Could kick myself for not having bought it a few years ago when was under £200

zinnia · 10/03/2015 01:03

Ooh FairyBiker saw that Zara bag in store today and had my head well & truly turned. My heart still belongs to the Honey, but the Zara one would be perfect for upcoming holiday & is 1/3 of the price...

HelpMeGetOutOfHere · 10/03/2015 08:29

Zinnia that mimi berry one looks like the Boden bag that's in stock this season. I think it's £149 without discount.

BallroomWithNoBalls · 10/03/2015 08:47

I just fainted in lust at the jypsiere bag Mominatrix, beautiful!

FairyBiker · 10/03/2015 09:55

oh god Zinnia, don't tell me that. went into the Zara at Leicester last week and they didn't have it in. But I could order it to be delivered to the shop FOC, I'm really tempted.
What what the leather like, was it thin?

zinnia · 10/03/2015 14:20

Thanks HelpMe I've been eyeing that Boden one too (especially as I have some account credit there) but it's almost too similar, but a bit smaller and just not quite as nice (Mimi Berry's leather is superb). I think if I bought it I'd be wishing it were the Honey every time I looked at it. Which may not stop me ordering it just to see!

Fairy I really liked the Zara one, leather is not bad for the price, soft and not too thin, though a bit grainier than it looks online. The braiding detail is nice and it's quite big, large enough for my holiday gubbins with the kids (wipes, change of bottom half clothing, possibly the odd toy + whatever I need myself). Only drawback for me is that the cross-body strap is quite thin, I'd worry it would dig in if the bag got heavy.

If they will order it in for you (you can order online for free delivery to store as well) there's no harm in looking...!
