Alternative to sketchers go walk?

Endler32 · 06/03/2015 14:01

Last year I bought a pair of 'go walk', they were worn to death as they were the most comfy shoes I have owned, I was just looking at buying another pair but at £39+ a pair I am wondering if there's a cheaper alternative?

I find it hard to find comfy shoes, they need to be washable and ideally slip on. Any suggestions? Or should I just go for the 'go walk' and live on beans on toast for a week ? Grin.

Grin, thank you, you are right, I think I will just go for it, I hate buying shoes, I spend too much on shoes that are not comfy, I know these will be comfy so will probably save me money in the long run.

Now to decide what colour to go for Smile

Just got a pair of grey on Amazon for just over £30, might by another pain in a few months ( either blue or pink ), walked miles in them last year so I know they will get worn a lot.

I recently tried on my friend's slip on GoWalk 2s and vowed to get some but I'm not too keen on the slip ons as my feet are narrow and usually need lacing in to shoes.

Are the ones that are more built up and laced still uber comfy?

Endler32 · 06/03/2015 21:33

I have narrow (ish) feet and usually struggle with slip ons but am ok with 'go walk', I tried some 'blow fish' slip on leather shoes on last week but my feet fell out of them ( shame as they were very comfy ).

I think they do some that are laced.

Yes, I have some with laces and they're extremely comfy, just the same as the slip-ons.

EthelCardew · 07/03/2015 19:13

Yay! Thanks, I will go for the lace-ups.

I've never had a comfortable pair of shoes so I don't care what they cost!

Petal02 · 08/03/2015 09:12

Or even just toast if it leaves you unable to afford beans??!?

I've just bought a pair of laced skechers for a European sight seeing weekend, there's no way I would let uncomfortable shoes spoil my trip.

VivaLeBeaver · 08/03/2015 09:16

Si was looking at these online. What shops stock them on the high St so I can try some on please?

dexter73 · 08/03/2015 09:22

Schuh sell them.

MissFoodie · 08/03/2015 09:53

are these suitable for long walks? eg 5-6 miles?

and even the slip on model?

and what is the difference between the go walk and the go walk 2?

Thanks!

Sorry to gate crash, but I was just wondering how the sizing comes up? I'm usually a 5.5, but have seen the pair of Skech-Air I like on Amazon for £15 cheaper - whole sizes only of course! Thanks very much.

VivaLeBeaver · 08/03/2015 09:56

According to Amazon reviews you normally need to go down a size.

Endler32 · 08/03/2015 11:09

Yes, I find they come up a bit big, I'm a 5.5 but a 5 is perfect for me.

Fantastic - thank you so much!

have a look on sports direct as they occasionally have them a bit cheaper than ive seen anywhere else.

brantano sell them too if u have student discount or theres often voucher codes around if you google them.

i dont own any but want some.

i was surprised with the sizes as i had heard to size down, anyway my dm who wears a size 4 in converse tried a size 5 in the slip ons and they were too tight.

just another thought very sell them too and often do a 25 off 50 to new customers or something like that. could be worth a look to bring price down a bit.

opalmum · 09/03/2015 14:56

I've just bought some grey Skechers go walk dupes from Tesco for £7, (F&F active) in the sale today. I have proper Skechers, and the Tesco ones look very similar indeed. Asda may also do them - worth a look.

LovelyBranches · 09/03/2015 15:12

You have to get the go walks. Is there a designer outlet near you? I bought mine from the Bridgend designer outlet and they were much much cheaper.

Buy cheap buy twice is true in this case.

GingerbreadBaubles · 09/03/2015 20:32

If you sign up for Skechers newsletter/vip club they'll send you a 15% discount code. Just bought some myself

EthelCardew · 12/03/2015 13:01

Thanks for the tip Gingerbread!
