Can a size 12/14 wear co-ords?

I really like the look of the long sleeve crop tops/high waist skirt combo atm but not sure if I can carry it off. I'm a size 10/12 on top, 12/14 on the bottom carrying most of my weight on my thighs/hips/bum. Opinions please...

It's not a look in personally fond of, but I don't see why you shouldn't be able to pull it off, how is your tum? My friend sometimes wears this kind of thing and she's pear shaped, I've never noticed her looking odd but her stomach is virtually flat. I don't think its at all forgiving if you have any hint of tummy!

Disclaimer - I am not fashionable! But hopefully this will keep it bumped and someone will be along shortly who knows more than me! Smile

gotredonyou · 06/03/2015 09:56

Yeah my stomach is flat and I don't have any excess fat on my waist so i'm not worried about showing some skin. Just don't really want to look like Kim K with the oversize bum lol xx

Please don't take this in the wrong way AwfulDaughter but at 21 there is literally nothing you can't wear for age-related reasons. At least not as far as the general population is concerned (your own age group might think differently, of course)

gotredonyou · 06/03/2015 10:11

Well this was going to be a potential outfit for my 24th birthday >>http://www.vestryonline.com/Product/4423/Luxe-Leopard-Print-2-Piece-Skirt-and-Crop-Top was hoping with it being long sleeve and long length skirt it might be a bit of a more mature look??

I think that could look great. I would just order it and see what it feels/looks like.

StayGoldPonyBoy · 06/03/2015 10:14

I'm 24 and I wear these on holiday but I don't think I would in 'real life'

I'm a 12-14 with a flat stomach and big everything else and I love wearing high waisted skirts and jeans with cropped tops though. You're definitely not too big.

I prefer to mix and match rather than buy the sets, it's the sets that look a bit much imo and are either neon orange aztec patterns or £££. I like to have the items touch so I show no serious skin unless I lift my arms or whatever.

MaCosta · 06/03/2015 10:19

I am clearly the wrong age group for this conversion but don't think any outfit with your tummy showing is ever going to be a "more mature look". I think it all depends on how toned you are. If you have even an inch of fat that outfit will look rubbish.

I would have done it at age 24 though (in fact when I was 24 - almost 20 years ago) that outfit would have been very much the in thing. I have a photo of me at 23 in a top practically identical to that.

By more mature I meant more than the co-ords that are sleeveless boob tube style crop tops and mini skirts!

I do think its a nice outfit and as long as you're toned I think you can wear it. I'm an old codger now so what do I know anyway Grin

FelixFelix · 06/03/2015 10:27

I think you will look great. It sounds like you have a lovely figure. If you feel good in it then wear whatever you want!

gotredonyou · 06/03/2015 10:42

Thanks everyone- I've recently lost 3 stone so feeling a lot better about my body even though i'm not where I want to be for my wedding this Nov xx

I agree with everyone else - I don't think it's a size think particularly, but it's very much a look the U21s would wear, IMO although I'm old so you could ask what I know.
Your tummy would have to be very, very toned and flat and preferably not too pasty, too.
It's a very unforgiving look and one most people should probably avoid.

SpicyBeat · 06/03/2015 13:12

How tall are you?

gotredonyou · 06/03/2015 13:17

I'm 5ft 5 but would definitely wear heels !

I thought you meant, could you wear cords Blush

Maybe my best S&B days are behind me.

SpicyBeat · 06/03/2015 13:46

Honestly then no. I'm a very similar size so think I have a good idea of your shape and it would be naff Kim Kardashian alike territory.

On a recent night out I saw a lot of this look and no one really pulled it off.

AmberNectarine · 06/03/2015 17:22

I'm lolling at Floisme and cords Grin

I am a curvy 8 and while I like this look I don't wear it for fear of looking like a poor man's Kardashian. I would buy a knockout, slinky dress instead.

gotredonyou · 10/03/2015 09:51

Thanks everyone- Well I tried one on in Miss Selfridge yesterday-I personally think I look too wide and didn't feel comfortable sitting down in it so will go for a clingy dress instead!
