I'm looking for a dress to change into for my evening party. I love my wedding dress but I fancy changing after the first dance into something a little more casual and easy to dance in!

I am hourglass but have a bit of a tummy atm. Usually wear about a 14 at the moment but loosing loads of weight and hope to be down to a 10/12 again by wedding.

I would like something Ivory/champagne/blush pink so it still looks like bridal but more cocktail style.

Any suggestions very gratefully received. Smile

Vivien of Holloway - I almost bought one of these for our wedding and still have a pang that I didn't. I love the full skirted dresses - particularly because you can move and eat in them, and they're very flattering! Though the slinkier ones would also look lovely.

COAST have some nice dresses
I've always liked the Lori Lee one - it comes in lots of colours
GHOST also have some lovely dresses
To be honest though, you will have spent an age getting the wedding dress just right and paying loads for it and then you take it off in the evening?
I did just that - I wish I hadn't - I wish I'd kept my dress on for the entire day and evening.
I've not been to a wedding in recent years where the bride changes after the first dance.
You want to stand out for the entire day and evening!
Make the most of your dress.

Will have a look at the links thanks - didn't even think of Vivien of Holloway good call Hermione.

I know hells that's what my mum says but my dress is quite heavy and I want to be able to dance the night away - I'm worried I'll get too hot and bothered in it!

If I don't find something gorgeous
I'll stick with the gown all evening because I do love it.

If you buy something gorgeous off the peg closer to the time you can always take it back if you don't wear it. Good to have a back-up.

I got married in vegas wearing a dress from Lindybop, similar style to vivienne of holloway but a bit cheaper and imo better quality,

MsVanRein · 04/03/2015 19:10

Good point Hermione - think I will try to do that or at least but something I know I'll wear again so that if I don't wear it it's not a waste.

Coco thanks will have a look.

CloserToFiftyThanTwenty · 05/03/2015 00:21

What's your budget OP?

MsVanRein · 05/03/2015 12:03

Closer no hard and fast budget. Happy to spend up to about £300 but would spend more on the right dress.

I've bought a DVF Zarita in ivory lace for my evening reception. It's a lace mini dress with sleeves. They have discontinued the colour but I got it on eBay for £150.

MsVanRein · 05/03/2015 21:04

ruby that's lovely - if I can't get it in Ivory I might get it in the midnight colour to take on honeymoon!

Lindy bop do some fab short dresses, and have a lovely ivory style one. but you'd be surprised what you can dance in on your wedding day! my dress was huge and i did worry, but had no issues at all dancing a full set of a ceilidh in it as well as some more modern moves, they do move better than you think they will! Also people will move out of your way Wink

OnceMoreAgainWithFeeling · 05/03/2015 21:17

Well that went wrong...
this or this

MsVanRein · 05/03/2015 21:22

OncoMore - I know that's probably true I'm sure I would cope just fine, I just feel a bit anxious about dragging a big meringue around with me all evening! Grin

Think I will do what PP said and have something on hand then at least I have the option to change but I don't have to.

Love that ophelia dress. I'm gonna end up ordering loads of lovely dresses - you lot are great at this!
