Tanning

I have been using St Tropez gradual tan for a while but want to go darker for a night out. Am thinking of using the proper tanning cream/mousse but need to know a few things.
It says if you need to, you can reapply another layer after 12-24 hours. To stop this going patchy, would you exfoliate the first layer, or would this rub it all off? Then re apply 2nd layer? Or just reapply straight over the 1st layer?
Also I would need to shave on the morning of the night out. Will this remove the tan completely and will it be too close to applying the 2nd layer causing that dotty effect? Just not sure how it works. Ideally I want to start tanning Thursday night or Friday morning giving me enough time to do a second layer and let it settle for sat night out?

Have you tried St Moritz dark... Amazing stuff.

Shave 24 hrs before.

I use St tropez mousse.
I doubt you will need to do two layers within 12-24 hours. In fact, I think that would look shite unless you are already dark.
You wont exfoliate it off, but you wont need to exfoliate again if you have done so within 12-24 hours.
I would shave/exfoliate before applying ....
To tan for a sat night out, this is me:

Shave and exfoliate in shower Friday morning.
Moisturise Friday evening. Wait half an hour. Put gloves on. Apply two coats of tan (let it dry a few minutes in between). Use sparingly on knees, elbows, armpits, feet. If you have very dry knees, elbows etc ( like me!), use a wash cloth to wipe these areas after application to make sure they haven't picked up too much tan.

Shaving sat morning if you need to will take very little colour off.

I did look at the St tropez dark and the reviews on their official website, were bad. Saying it was turning people green. I haven't yet looks at st moritz yet! is the quality the same?
That routine sounds good, but I didn't realise you could put a second layer on after a few mins of drying, always assumed it would just smear.

Oh and do you actually need to buy the seperate face tanner or just use the body one for both? What's the difference ?

I don't do my face Coffeemonster, so not sure sorry. Also - I don't use the "dark" mousse, just the regular one!

I use it on my face. I just mix it with my normal moisturiser and apply in circular motions on face and work down the neck and ears to meet the chest and tops of shoulders.

I have tries tropez, fake bake, boots own, st Moritz moose but find the lotion easier to work into my skin. I buff it after to smooth it over.

Thursday Eve is shave & tan night for me. Wake up Friday and shower. Then Friday night go over any missed bits or second later. then shower Saturday morning.

I've just started using solait instant moose it's on offer in superdrug. That's good too. And washes off if you go wrong

Glittery - if you shave and tan Thursday are you still stubble free by sat night? I'm not sure I would be

Didn't mean to post yet- what do you buff with and what do you use to apply?

Yeah it's okay, my leg hair is dark but I get away with it. It may feel prickly but it's fine. You can't see it.

I use a body buffer. A mitt. To smooth tan out & remove excess.

GlitteryLipgloss1 · 04/03/2015 22:59

I use my hands. I go to Tesco and buy a box of latex free gloves (type you get to dye your hair)

Start from the bottom up, portion by portion. Feet. Shins. Back of legs. Front of things. Back of legs. Bum. Lower back. Lower stomach. Hips. stomach. Under breasts. Arms. Etc etc.

I do it that way as it stops tan getting on your other body parts if your bending down over them.

see how the first layer comes out. You may not need it x
