How to use tongs on shortish bob

Help!!

I have a short bob - just above my shoulders. It often looks a bit flat. So I thought I'd try tongs to give it some curl and bounce. But now I look like Cristle Tips and Alistair!

I did watch some YouTube videos but can't get the same effect at all.

What have I done wrong?

Not sure who they are but why not try a hot brush, they are a lot simpler.

I have a shoulder length bib and very fine hair I just curl mine with a curling wand, run my finger threw to break it up a little otherwise it just looks like ringlets and it quickly drops a little looks great and last 3-4 days

My hair looks like Alistairs , I wish it looked like crystal tips Sad

Hairdresser and fellow bob owner. Don't curl all the way down to the ends. Ringlets often look a bit too full on when your hair is shorter.

Here's a good tutorial that uses a similar technique to me. I use irons rather than tongs but you could definitely make it work with them

Yes but that's not a shortish bob.

Yes but I posted more to show the technique. Mines just past my chin and it works really well.
