Do you prefer liquid or pencil eyeliner? I don't mean gel liner, I mean the brush on or felt tip pen ones.

It depends on what I'm doing - pencil for just a bit of definition (I like the Clinique Quickliners or the Charlotte Tilbury Rock n Kohl) but liquid for a flicky cat's eye type thing (the Stila pen then).

Neither (sorry!).

I hate pencil because I can never do it properly and I find it too harsh looking.

I used to use liquid all the time - usually a felt tip type one (I used a L'Oreal one last I think) - until I started using gel.

I switched to using a pot of liner and a tiny brush and I find it so much easier. I use Illamasqua Precision Ink, so so good.

I used the Bobbi Brown gel and brush, it was not difficult but I switched to the felt pen version when that came out and still use that

I prefer applying with a pencil, but I haven't found one that sets on the skin - they always smudge.

The felt tip pens always skip on me so I don't like applying them. I've yet to find one that doesn't smudge on me. I don't like when the felt tip gets softer and they dry out (or get used up) much quicker than pencils or gel liners.

Of the two options, I prefer pencils, but I'd rather have a good gel liner (I like Maybelline EyeStudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner 24H) and a Mac 210 brush.
