Anyone have a Babyliss Big Hair?

Are these a gimmick or should I get one?
I have shoulder length hair if that makes a difference.

Don't get on with mine at all - will gladly send it to the fist person who asks for the cost of the postage (though as I live in France that could be £7-10)

Greengardenpixie · 01/03/2015 23:17

I like it, smooths the hair but i wouldnt say it makes your hair 'big'. Think its misleading. If it burnt out, not sure i would buy it again tbh.

CoconutAmericano · 02/03/2015 08:01

god i love mine. bought it two mths ago after reading the rave reviews here. i have long thick layered hair. i used to pay 25 quid for a wash and blow dry but the bbh does as good a job without the small talk! it paid for itself in two uses.

DigApony · 02/03/2015 09:16

I've had mine for 18mnths didn't used it much when I had long hair. But have recently had an inverted bob and I use it every day, makes it look decently styled. I use some mousse first and some Aussie miracle insurance spray then take it in sections.

SymphonyofShadows · 02/03/2015 09:37

Mine burnt out too. It was ok but I didn't love it, but I think the brush was too big for the length of my hair at the time. I was thinking of replacing it but not sure whether I should go for the one with the smaller brush as my hair is longish but lots of layers.

Skivvywoman · 02/03/2015 09:46

So should it be the smaller brush for long hair and big brush for shorter?

SymphonyofShadows · 02/03/2015 09:49

I think it might be the other way round. I thought the small brush was for layers but I could be wrong!

rootsradicals · 02/03/2015 14:52

HarveySpecter I would love this if it's still available! I'll happily paypal you the postage.

HarveySpecter · 03/03/2015 21:05

Sorry roots - it's already been claimed!!

Skivvywoman · 03/03/2015 21:08

Mines comes tomorrow hopefully I can work it and don't end up a tangled mess Shock

Notagainmun · 03/03/2015 21:17

On my second one in three years. Love, love, love it.

Skivvywoman · 03/03/2015 21:21

Does it take ages to do your hair? Or is it quite quick?

rootsradicals · 03/03/2015 21:21

Thanks for letting me know Harvey hope whoever gets them loves them! I'm watching a few on ebay and researching cheaper versions so hopefully will get my hands on some soon.

rootsradicals · 03/03/2015 22:48

Oh, oh!! I just got one from Amazon for £27! It was the smaller version (my hair's still pretty short so will be better) and it comes up as 'used'. It's actually 'open box' which are Amazon returns and there are apparently 2 left if anyone else is still looking.

HandMini · 03/03/2015 22:52

Love the BBH so much. If I have time, I can def get a result as good as hairdresser with it. Combine with mousse + 10 mins on soft rollers = amazing.

MsJupiter · 03/03/2015 23:04

Damn you rootsradicals! You got me at a moment of weakness...

Laptopwieldingharpy · 04/03/2015 06:53

Very disappointed.
Leaves my long hair dull. Its does give a bit of lift at the roots but the maximum heat setting is way too low.

The vidal sasson ceramic round brush (airstyle 800W) is so much better. Smaller barrel but holds bigger shunks of hair, heats up quickly and efficiently and leaves hair shiny.
I can finish sleek or with waves and curls at the bottom.

I can see how it would probably work OK on shorther thinner hair.

MythicalKings · 04/03/2015 07:20

There are not enough words of praise that I can muster.

teawamutu · 04/03/2015 08:07

I bought mine after a similar rhapsody thread (SirChenjin, looking at you Grin) and loved it, and bought one for my mum, who also loves it. I have a horse's mane, she has normal jaw length hair.

One thing though: every now and again I tangle my hair, too. Any tips to stop that happening?

Petal02 · 04/03/2015 09:31

I wouldn't be able to have layers if I didn't have BBH. My blow drying technique is too poor to deal with layers, and now I'm over 40 I need layers to soften my look.

However I'm still praying Babyliss bring out a travel-size BBH. I use a Remington Hot Air Styler (similar to BBH, only the brush doesn't rotate) for travel/gym, as it comes apart making it more practical for packing.

hellsbellsmelons · 04/03/2015 09:46

I love mine.
It smooths out my hair nicely.
Then if it needs an extra straighten I don't need to use the high heat setting which always helps with keeping the split ends at bay.
It's very easy to use. I have almost shoulder length bob but thick and curly hair.
It makes it more swishy as previously mentioned.

cleoismycat · 04/03/2015 09:59

I find the bristles make my hair frizzy at the top. Would be better if they were hard plastic.

NotYouNaanBread · 04/03/2015 10:00

I love mine, but if you have a bob there's a risk of looking like a newscaster, so handle with care!

rootsradicals · 04/03/2015 10:02

Mwah ha ha... Ooops, I mean, sorry MsJupiter I didn't mean to lead you astray. Just think how swishy our hair's going to be though Grin

Stevie77 · 04/03/2015 10:09

I really want one as the straighteners are destroying my hair. Hairdresser keeps going on about using a brush and hair dryer, but I just can't do it!

I just balk at the price tag of it, might have to wait until it's my birthday...
