I've had dark thread veins on the backs of my thighs since I was a teen. I want to have them removed, can anyone recommend the best way? Are there any dangers? Thanks in advance.

Oh I hear you ...and after many years I went and had mine done at our local hospital laser clinic. Yes, the good old NHS offers the service to 'private' clients, so they can make a bit of money.
I liked it because the money goes back to the NHS and moreover I trusted them more than local beauty type place - so I'd recommend you see if a similar service if offered in your area.

My results are mixed. Some veins have disappeared and others have remained but may still disappear over the next few months. You do have to keep returning for check ups etc.
No real dangers ; you have to wear industrial strength goggles and it does hurt momentarily if they have to use the higher power laser (usually for the bluer veins)

Thanks! I looked and found out that the NHS does have a clinic in my area, apparently they only treat facial thread veins though. Shame because I'd be really happy to put the money into the NHS & would feel better about it.
