Anyone else use ear wax drops to whiten teeth?

I read about this on EDS forum. Sounded weird but there was a huge thread on it, including posts by dental hygienists, who approved. Apparently drops like Eurax contain the same active ingredient as the really expensive gels you can buy especially for whitening teeth.
So I have been giving it a go. The drops aren't gross at all, just minty. I smear them over the front 'smile' teeth. Leave it one 10 mins whilst get on with other stuff then brush it off. I must say it has made a huge difference to my old beige teeth after only 3 days! And it's easy and dirt cheap, no faffing with trays and the like!

Intriguing...but scared!

DigApony · 27/02/2015 17:14

Wow, which ones do you use? I'm going to try this.

bigbuttons · 27/02/2015 17:19

I had some Eurax express in the cupboard so am using that.

Is this the same as the toothpaste to bleach your bum thread Hmm

bigbuttons · 27/02/2015 17:32

no!

Not sure I want to clean my teeth with something DH has stuck in his hairy eats. Eeeew!

GilbertBlytheWouldGetIt · 27/02/2015 17:35

I reckon Eurax would do a cracking (hehe) job of bumhole bleaching.

BuzzardBird · 27/02/2015 17:35

Ears even

confused79 · 27/02/2015 17:40

I haven't, but yeah I suppose the ear drops with hydrogen peroxide would whiten teeth. Gonna try it now ?

mrssmith79 · 27/02/2015 17:41

Eurax is an itch cream. Please don't put it on your teeth fgs! I truly hope you mean otex? Which is hydrogen peroxide, so...bleach, doing bleaching. Who knew Hmm

burnishedsilver · 27/02/2015 17:45

I'd have thought it would be too runny to smear anywhere.

MrFMercury · 27/02/2015 17:46

I was getting confused about how anti itch cream could be used in ears never mind on teeth!

BuzzardBird · 27/02/2015 17:46

I never knew Otex was hydrogen peroxide! Cheaper then to just buy a bottle of HP for your teeth?

Talking of HP (the sauce, not hydrogen peroxide) I used to know someone who cleaned their stained teaspoon with that, I wonder if that works on teeth? Hmm

MrsBungle · 27/02/2015 17:49

Is it ok for teeth? Not bad for the enamel?

bigbuttons · 27/02/2015 17:52

otex otex otex bloody otex NOT EURAX Blush

OP posts:
bigbuttons · 27/02/2015 17:54

the gel stays on the teeth longer than swishing with HP from a bottle.
Anyway, it works for me

OP posts:
Floggingmolly · 27/02/2015 17:55

Of course it's not ok for teeth. It's just bleach, which makes the enamel brittle.

ginmakesitallok · 27/02/2015 18:00

Long term use with damage the enamel on your teeth. I'd rather have off white teeth than crumbling ones

ZaraW · 28/02/2015 10:38

But what are the long term effects of doing this? No way I would even consider it.

TheNumberfaker · 28/02/2015 10:50

I thought ear drops were made from urea ie wee ?

PamBagnallsGotACollage · 28/02/2015 10:54

Why would anyone mess with their teeth unless advised by a professional?

TheNumberfaker · 28/02/2015 10:55

Sorry, just read they've been making synthetic urea since 1828. Not quite as gross as I thought then Grin .
