Why do earrings fall out of my ears

I have the world's largest collection of single beautiful earrings. A pair lasts me about three weeks max. They just fall out. I often see them fly out in front of me as I walk along the street, so can rescue them, but just as often I don't. My lovely birthday earrings are now one earring. I had them a month. Is it just me? I use the horrid plastic backs. They just work their way down and off. What am I doing wrong? (Wails....)

If you have valuable earrings you can have a jeweler adjust them so that the back screws on. It's probably now worth doing with high st earrings.

I find if you fasten them too tight initially then they work their way off. I know it's counter intuitive but if you put the backs on loosely so you could turn the earring freely in your ear they seem to stay put a lot better.

I use little plastic tube things that come with cheap earrings to hold them on the cards they are sold on, I push these on to the wires and it stops them coming out.
