Dyed hair and eyebrows ...

I've been dying my hair a dark red for a while now and don't see myself stopping anytime soon. It's a boder line shade, could be natural looking but not quite which I'm happy with. I am naturally a brunette, the darker end of the spectrum and so my brows are quite dark. Ive been tying myself in knots lately staring at people's faces trying to work out whether they have matching brows and hair or not ... So, if you dye your hair do you dye/tint your brows to match? Is it better to have them match or not so much?

Sorry should say "borderline" not boder line!

My hair is dark brown and my eyebrows are black

Do not dye your eyebrows red!

ShadowsShadowsEverywhere · 24/02/2015 21:17

leviticus why not? That message came minutes after I was sat doing my roots debating whether to whack a bit of dye on the eyebrows just to see what happened ...

Good God! definitely DO NOT dye your brows red.

I don't dye mine but I do rub on a bit of brown mascara sometimes - my hair is blonde and my brows are dark blonde/very light brown usually. I don't like them that light so the mascara darkens them up a bit. I've dyed them once with comical effect - never again.

The darker your eyebrows are, the better you can cope with coloured hair changes.

I bet you look lovely. Keep the natural brows.

KatieScarlettreregged · 24/02/2015 21:22

I darken my blonde eyebrows and lighten my brown hair?

ShadowsShadowsEverywhere · 24/02/2015 21:32

Ok I shall steer clear from dying them! You know when you overthink something so much that you lose all sense of perspective? Well I think that'd happened ... So thanks for stopping me from doing something that obv would have been disastrous Grin

I used to dye my hair jet black and did once whack a bit of dye on my brows, it was so bad I laughed every time I saw myself. Perhaps an eyebrow powder in a reddish brown would be nicer than dye?

Chopsypie · 24/02/2015 21:38

I have dyed red hair and naturally blonde eyebrows. I usually get mine tinted a medium brown when I get them waxed, or it looks like I haven't got any. So they aren't the same colour, but they are darker than my natural hair colour

Hmm I'm wondering if maybe I just need to fill them in a bit with a pencil or similar ... I think they just look a bit thin and almost not there ... Wondering if I dare post a picture. Should have namechanged!

I think it very much depends on your skintone, as well as your hair colour. I have my mousey brown hair highlighted and tint my eyebrows dark brown with a bit of black, but they're fairly delicate anyway so it doesn't look overpowering. Any darker would look odd with my skintone, even thoug I think my hair could take it. I'd suggest going to a reputable/recommended beautician to ask advice and then maybe replicate it at home once they've helped you determine the best shade? To be honest, I think your options are either mid brown or dark brown - I agree that you should avoid red eyebrows!

OP - practise with a powder and a stiff brush so you can scratch the colour around.
Then have a go with pencil and mascara. See what feels and looks better to you. Take a photo of each effect/colour and compare them later.
You can always scrub it off if you don't like it.
