Mulberry Budget But I Don't Want Mulbery - Large Brown Leather Tote

Hi all,

I've been very fortunate in that I have come into a bit of cash and would like to buy myself a large(ish) brown leather tote. I love the Mulberry oak colour but I don't really like the totes themselves.

So, I was wondering if any of you S&B ladies could point me in the direction of something lovely. It's got to carry all the usual junk, plus my lunch and bottle of water - thankfully no lap top tho.

Thank you in advance for your help.

What exactly is your budget?

Could you afford my dream bag? Chloe Marcie

tethersend · 24/02/2015 18:14

Medium version

Have a look in Smythson.

Much better quality than Mulberry,

kittym2009 · 24/02/2015 21:43

Try Coach - nice bags and not too ridiculously priced.

Thanks all for your replies x

The Chloe bags are beautiful Tethers but def over my price range.

I'll check out Coach and Smythson - thanks for the recommendations ladies Smile

Have you looked at Pickett www.pickett.co.uk/shop/leather-goods/handbags/ or Tusting www.tusting.co.uk/ ?

Not cheap, but good quality, I believe.

IloveChoo · 25/02/2015 10:50

I nearly bought this a few weeks ago but plumped for a slouchier one instead. Might suit you?

tethersend · 25/02/2015 15:00

I've just bought this and it's lovely.

IloveChoo · 25/02/2015 17:20

tethers is that the epic tan leather bag SEARCH over? Whoop whoop! Its a gorgeous bag! ;)

tethersend · 25/02/2015 17:46

Do you know, I think it is Shock

Until the next thread Wink

Tethers that's a fab bag Smile

lavendersun · 25/02/2015 22:22

Tusting all the way - I returned a bag to them for repair recently, I thought it was about 15 years old but on reflection I think it is 20 years old.

Saddle leather, looks as good as it did when I bought it, amazing stuff.

Bought from Pickett near the Bank of England before they had a web page, I have lots of bags, some cost a lot more than my Tusting bags but Tusting gets my vote by a long mile.

MrsAlexanderSkarsgard · 26/02/2015 12:26

Oooh Tethers that Massimo Dutti one is a beaut!!

Well they all are but that one is yummy.

Wish you hadn't shown me that Chloe one tho, I keep looking at it and trying to justify the price in my mind. I wonder if I could sell a kidney??

Word of warning, the Chloe Marcie large is SOOOO heavy..... Like the Mulberry Bayswater, looks fab, then you go to use it regualrly and you need weightlifters arms to hoist it up - a nightmare for a long day of lugging it about....

Dancergirl · 26/02/2015 13:17

Ilovechoo did you go for another Peony and Moore bag? Which one? I am thinking about the grey Antonella.

Dancergirl · 26/02/2015 13:19

tethers that is indeed a beautiful bag....what it's like on, is it very big? I'm looking for one too but this says the width is 41cm which seems big.

tethersend · 26/02/2015 14:02

Dancer, it is big- that was its main plus point for me, as I needed one to comfortably fit an A4 folder. It fits an A4 folder both portrait and landscape.

It's big, but it tucks nicely under one arm. I've taken the cross-body strap off as it was a bit flimsy, but the shoulder strap is very comfortable and sturdy. I think the cross body strap was just added as an afterthought anyway.
