Tunics

I see tunics mentioned on here ALL THE TIME, but don't think I've ever seen anyone wearing one in real life. Except maybe my mum actually - she has many cotton/linen long tops, usually with sleeves, loose fitting, with a slit up each side seam and maybe embroidered....... Is this what MNers mean by tunics? Can you link to what you would call a tunic from the high street? I cannot rest until I know what 'tunic' is in reference to.

Thanks!!!

This is a tunic. I have a few that I wear with jeggins to cover my bum.

A tunic to me is a dress (so any shape/style) but not long enough to be pulled off with tights/bare legs, so just covering your bum/on your thighs. Therefore needing to be worn with leggings/jeans/trousers. I'm probably completely wrong Grin

This is the kind of tunic that lots of people seem to wear over jeans or leggings where I live.

GilbertBlytheWouldGetIt · 24/02/2015 13:54

I really like that, dexter.

A tunic is basically a short dress for those of us with rubbish legs. I have a couple a bit like this and wear it with leggings, really thick tights or jeggings and shin or knee length boots.

Not everyone's up of tea and I have seen this look described as frumpy on here, but I care not a jot, it's comfy, work friendly and most importantly I think it suits me and I like to wear this kind of thing.

I'm with you ireally, it's not for everyone but I feel most comfortable in tunic/leggings dress/tights combo. I'm smaller up top than on the bottom so it suits me more if my thighs and bum are hidden. I like that tunic, do you have it?

I see! Thanks for enlightening me all!

Anything that covers the bun and usually about mid thigh.

I think a tunic can be anything from just over bum to knee length, distinguishable from dresses as they are clearly designed to be worn with trousers. I should know as I wear them almost everyday, and embrace the frumpiness!
