What do you reckon?

Some if it is just dated but some looks great.

Their coats are great, but I think the t shirts are poor quality. I don't have any experience of the shirts or dresses though.

HelpMeGetOutOfHere · 24/02/2015 11:05

I have a couple of the jersey cross bust dresses and they are lovely. very flattering. I'm a size 12 with a belly which is my problem area (3 dc/3 sections, and large weight loss equals loose tummy Sad) they fit nicely on the bust and then skim over the bad bits.

The coats can't be beaten for warmth.

Its not cutting edge but there re some really nice bits if you can be bothered to look. I'm not exactly a style icon though and probably a fraction too mumsy for any of the real style aficionados here.

magimedi · 24/02/2015 11:20

I find them a tad mumsy - just.

But DH loves them - he is v tall & can get jeans, chinos etc in exactly the right leg length. And they are good quality & last. In fact the mens stuff is much nicer than the womens.

Apatite1 · 24/02/2015 11:45

Boden-esque but I have a few dresses I wear to work. I don't dress stylishly for work ever though!

ChablisChic · 24/02/2015 12:41

I've had a few things from there and always found the quality excellent. It's definitely practical rather than trendy, but good for basics and coats. DH and I both have windproof/waterproof coats from there and I wish mine wasn't so damn durable, as I'm bored with it now, but can't justify buying another as there's nothing wrong with it!

Goodmum1234 · 24/02/2015 17:08

Swimming costumes are excellent quality.

HelpMeGetOutOfHere · 25/02/2015 07:17

Haha Chablis. I'm the same. Really want a new coat for watching the dc play sport outside but my lands end coat is immaculate despite being a few years old and been in the machine countless times.

HelpMeGetOutOfHere · 25/02/2015 07:17

The children's clothes are great by the way. Wash and wear better than Boden.

EdithWeston · 25/02/2015 07:22

It's often criticised here for being dull, but it's not trying to be particularly up to the minute fashionable. It's great for basic wardrobe fillers. Swimwear is extremely good (but the prices went up a lot on the last couple of years, so you might lead to look at sales/offers). Children's clothes very good too. I've always found quality to be fine.

Customer service and returns policy also very good.

mateysmum · 25/02/2015 07:31

Really good quality and customer service. As others have said, the coats are great and I really like their jeans - they are cut for grown ups rather than size 8 teens! I'm a fan of their fleeces too and the fine gauge knits are really good summer basics.

Yes you have to avoid the mumsy elasticated waist stuff but if you want practical, quality basics, I would recommend them.

PandorasToyBox · 25/02/2015 08:05

Some of their dresses are imho frumpy, but sometimes a gem can be found (I have 4 dresses from them). The dresses I have I find are in good heavy weight fabric, comfortable and wash very well.

nipersvest · 25/02/2015 11:23

i am a fan of lands end for coats, knitwear and their swimwear. but then i live on the doorstep of one of their factory shops, everything is reduced in there, love it when the new catalogue comes out and all the old stock arrives.

at the friends & family days the coats are £5 Grin

CoolCadbury · 25/02/2015 12:56

Where abouts is that nipersvest?

Yup, I've got a superwarm coat which is great for playground duty. It's great for DS too because they have reinforced knees on some of their trousers. The quality of stuff I have bought has always been good and customer service is fantastic. They always seem to do 20-30% off.

Rosebag · 25/02/2015 13:21

Have to agree about the coats. They're indestructible. Also the walking boots. Watching this thread...I've never bought any of the dresses but really tempted.

mammuzzamia · 25/02/2015 13:25

It reminds me of an 80s department store. In that it's dated. I almost bought a coat from there once, so don't think it's all bad

Lambzig · 25/02/2015 14:38

I love their canvas totes - great as a shopping bag, beach bag or general stuff all the things the kids need in the car bag. I cant resist getting mine monogrammed.

Lottapianos · 25/02/2015 15:24

Really excellent coats - I have two of their down filled coats and I live in them all winter. I love them. They're not cheap but worth every penny

DidoTheDodo · 25/02/2015 16:09

My DH loves their t shirts and fleeces and they wash really well. I'm actually impressed by the quality of their T shirts.

RustyBear · 25/02/2015 16:14

We went to see my SIL at the weekend - she took us to the Oakham factory outlet, and I got a lovely boiled wool jacket for £34, plus 2 pairs of jeans for £20. There was an awful lot of stuff I wouldn't be seen dead in, though, you do have to look carefully.

RaisingSteam · 25/02/2015 16:18

I think good for basics and neutrals. However I could very easily turn out looking exactly like my mum. They have a range though, you don't have to pick the comfort clothes. Jeans and a black T shirt could be from anywhere.

The winter coats are awesome, TBH I don't mind being mumsy to be warm and dry.

ZaraW · 25/02/2015 16:31

I found the shape of the t shirts to be really boxy and unflattering that was a few years ago maybe they've improved.

RaisingSteam · 25/02/2015 22:19

They do size on the large side true

nipersvest · 26/02/2015 09:33

coolcadbury, i'm in rutland, there's other outlet stores in warwick and hatfield i believe.
