Would like a good tinted moisturiser (NOT BB, CC or EE!)

I went to look for a high spf tinted moisturiser (in the traditional sense) at the weekend and was met with a plethora of "skin tints" in alphabetical format which all seemed heavier than a traditional Tinted Moisteriser. More like a foundation really. And they look "flat".

Laura Mercier is light and dewy if that's what you're after. I know what you mean about the CC creams being heavy.

Eliza22 · 23/02/2015 10:01

Had an Internet look at Laura Mercier. There's 2 types. Which would I go for? I'm 53 and have good skin. Minimal lines but deathly pale! I like the idea of dewy as oppose to greasy though.

I had a Vichy one I loved but hated the chemical smell. Any smell with LM?

TIA Smile

Boots No7. As recommended on here by others.

I use LM, the stone coloured tube as opposed to the brown one.

I have good skin and don't like anything cakey - the stone one is dewy but for some reason, the brown one just sits on my skin and looks a bit weird.

Thank you. Has anyone tried Nars? It has spf30+++ (whatever the +++ means).

I went on a hunt recently to replace my beloved Dermalogica tinted moisturiser which is discontinued. Like the OP, I didn't want BB or CC or anything like foundation (and I'm 54.) None of them including LM and Nars felt right. I was prepared to spend, but I ended up with the cheap as chips Garnier BB cream in Light which is the nearest to what I was trying to replace. Friends say I look the same as before….I don't know if it has sufficient SPF, though….

I use the oil free tinted moisturiser from Laura Mercier and I really like it. It has SPF 20.
I've never had a problem getting a sample so you could ask for one so you can try before you buy.

I use a separate SPF as I don't think I use enough tinted moisturiser (or whatever makeup product) to get the SPF that is mentioned on the tube.

Even though you're not looking for a BB cream, I really like the Estee Lauder DayWear one - it is more sheer than the LM one and it looks lovely on the skin. It has SPF 35.

Eliza22 · 23/02/2015 18:40

Thanks all. Can I really ask for samples? I didn't know Laura M and Nars would give them. I always feel obliged to buy and feel really cheeky asking for samples. They're an expensive mistake to make, though!

I use Nars TM and really like it. Take some little jars with you and ask for a sample. contact lens cases work well, but label each one in case you get two different brands.

Zanzibaragain · 23/02/2015 18:58

this works for me

OttiliaVonBCup · 23/02/2015 19:31

I like Chantecaille Just Skin. Bloody expensive though.

Laura Mercier Illuminating one runs dark and is a bit too shimmery.

Eliza22 · 23/02/2015 19:32

Oh dear. Don't have any little jars and am going tomorrow morning. Decisions decisions....Nars or Laura M?

Try NUXE Teint Eclat Prodigieux, gives a healthy colour and there are 3 shades, Marks & Sparks sell it in larger stores, I buy online via Feelunique.com

fitflopqueen · 23/02/2015 19:46

Ah forgot the SPF bit,?? but NUXE still good

Eliza22 · 23/02/2015 19:49

Boots No 7 or Laura Mercier

rootypig · 23/02/2015 19:59

I have the NARS at the moment. It's much heavier than LM, with more coverage, more like a foundation I'd say. Similar weight to Laura M i.e. nice and light is Dior Nude BB which is absolutely phenomenal, but only spf 10, which is why I reluctantly switched. You have to be fair, they only make light shades Sad And I've heard v good things about the Givenchy BB which is spf 35 and I think comes in a comprehensive colour range (like NARS).

Take some little pots from boots or muji, and they will give you samples.

Eliza22 · 23/02/2015 20:20

Rootypig, thanks so much. I dont want a foundation.... So I'll discount the Nars.

I've tried the No7 and it was kind of "flat" on me and went a wee bit orange. Was really pleased I had a sample to try, as it really wasn't for me.

Likeaninjanow · 23/02/2015 20:24

I use Chanel beiges. It's really light, nothing like foundation. I think the spf is 15.

rootypig · 24/02/2015 05:33

Yes, I think the NARS will def be too heavy. Such a shame about the Dior spf, it's otherwise perfect and superior to LM, it just takes to the skin better. Try the Givenchy!

rootypig · 24/02/2015 05:34

oh - just looked it up and I was totally wrong, it only comes in one colour. Angry

Eliza22 · 24/02/2015 07:27

Grin...hence my question! It's a minefield out there! I think consumers are always looking for the next "best thing/wonder product" and the cosmetic Giants cater to this. Maybe I can't find what I want because it doesn't exist (really) any more. Thing is, I don't like the gloopy, glue-like BB/CC products of "now".

Am off to the shops!

I like the lighter coloured tube LM tinted moisturiser too, I think the dark tube might work better with oilier skin. Loads of different tones & lasts well if you use the primer first. There might be a Becca product which is good, I'm trying some of their cream to cover under eye darkness at the moment.
