You're right. I wouldn't describe the dress that VB is wearing in that photo as being a true navy. It looks quite light when compared with the black tights.

It's too light. Solid navy and it probably helps if the fabric is good quality.

Fine denier, say 10, is ok, but not thick tights.

For thick tights grey is best.

I only wear grey tights with grey or black. I think they can have a bit of a look of the institution about them if not careful.
